CLI with Delta Amex

Ive seen people on this board who have received CLI when they first got the Delta Amex Card. If any of you have, what steps or approach did you take. Did you ask before the card was in the mail or upon activation with card. I know after that is 6 months CLI evel. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Amex used to do CLI at activation, but not anymore. The rule is 60 days on new accounts and every 6 months after that.

I got mine after 60 days (back when the rule was 30 days for new accounts). I kept very low util, pushed through about 4x the card's CL each month by PIFfing weekly (or more), and requested a very conservative CLI, just to be safe. It was instantly approved.

If I had a new account with them now that the rule is 60 days, I'd wait 3-4 months before asking.

I've been hopeful about getting a CLI on my Blue card, but I push all of my money through Green. I was hoping they somehow take that into account.

My Blue card is at $8900. I've ran it up to about $1300 a couple of times and PIF immediately. I literally had a check out in the mail to them the day I would make the large purchase since they wouldn't let me pay online or on the phone.

I run my monthly expenses through Green to avoid having to worry about util. I probably run close to 3k a month through it. Maybe not much to everyone else, but it's a lot to me. That's at least $30 a month in cash back I'm missing, maybe $90 a month on my Chase Freedom card.
