Dont be surprised if you get a fraud alert if this is your first Chase card
I used to get them all the time, sometimes twice while in the same store
Charges went through in the end , but we had to text like a couple of BFFs
Good to know. I had a gas card about 11 years ago that happened to be with Chase, but otherwise this is my first mainstream Chase card.
Sounds like i just need to make sure i keep them on speed dial, and keep them in the loop. Just like the GF. lol.

You got it
I wouldn't worry about it. I charged Chase with $4K in one swipe when I got the CSP and it was the first charge. Worked like clockwork.
BOA, wen to a local store and picked up something for about $600 and they froze the account and called me while standing in line.
WF, paid for something online..well, atempted to for $3K ( 2-3 transactions) and they froze it on the 2nd swipe for about $2K and required a call... they didn't call me on it like BOA.
So, it will either work or they'll call you within a couple of minutes to confirm.
Way back when I did do a double swipe at Best Buy on a Freedom card that declined the 2nd swipe and they didn't call me on that one. It just depends on the merchant I suppose.

I think you will be okay. I used my Gold card to buy my recent engagement ring about 4 days after I received the card. Then paid it as soon as it posted to my account. AMEX didn’t see any foul play. Chase will do the same. I’m sure it’s going to become your daily driver so just keep working it and I’m sure Chase will keep tight lip.
Congrats on your coming engagement!
Thank you!

However with the CSP SUB, i now plan to use the CSP to pay for the ring at the jeweler, then use the funds in my account that I set aside originally to buy the ring, to pay off the ring charges on the CSP.
You're better off using the CSP or any CC with purchase protection for this type purchase over debit/check anyways, even without the SUB in play. Not saying the Jewler would do you wrong, but I've seen way to many court cases on custom made items.
IMO any big ticket item should be placed on a CC even if the Money is sitting in the Bank.
@MyFault wrote:I just got my CSP card in the mail the other day, and I have a question regarding qualifying for the bonus points. Hitting the $4k over 90 days for the 60k points wouldn't be a difficult task, as i plan to use this card as my daily driver, however this just happens to be perfect timing because i'm planning on picking up an engagement ring this friday, that i had custom made. Of course the final balance is due at that time and it would completely take care of the SUB.
My question is, i have the cash to pay for the ring so i don't want to keep the balance of the ring on my card for long. Honestly not even the full grace period. I'm literally just using the card to pay for the ring to guarantee the points, and want to pay the balance asap. How long would the balance need to stay on the card? I don't plan on paying off the ring the next day with Chase, however i just don't want to put myself in a position that wouldn't allow me to collect my SUB points from this transaction. So, how long does it take to register, and how long should i wait before paying off the balance of the ring?
Thanks!
The balance doesn't need to stay there at all. You can pay it off immediately, even before it posts. Chase is one of the few banks that even lets you pull the payment before the charge posts, even when the charge is just pending.
True. That was one issue I didn't like about Cap1, you could only pay on average like $2 over the amount due. Even if you had a $5 pending charge.
That said, if you're not trying to avoid util issue. Then there's no benefit to paying before the charge even posts, or statement cuts.
Do this too much and wouldn't it show up as no usage on your CR?

I'm not concerned about showing no usage. The CSP is my daily, so I'm always going to show usage, almost every day.

I keep hearing how good Chase is and how easy they are at building points. Makes me glad I went with the CSP.
