So, I am pretty sure I have reached my limit with Chase. I just PC'd my regular Sapphire to a Chase Freedom and applied for the Sapphire Preferred after. I did this to get the 40,000 bonus points rather than do a PC from the Sapphire to Sapphire Preferred. The Chase Sapphire Preferred was approved with a $5,000 limit. I also applied and was approved for the MileagePlus Explorer card about 2 months ago which was approved for a $5,500 limit. The Chase Freedom (ex-Sapphire) was opened in April of 2011 with a $14,300 limit. I have had other cards with Chase in the past but they were closed for various reasons (I wasn't using them, poor rewards, low CL, high APR, etc.)
Anyway, my question on the CSP is regarding the 1:1 transfer points system. So, if I am understanding this right...you can transfer all of your points that you have earned on the CSP to say, my MileagePlus account with United? These points then become award miles? Am I understanding that correctly? If this is the case, I may just close my MileagePlus Explorer card and transfer the CL on that card to the new CSP. I know that your points expire if you close your card...so I'll make sure to redeem them for some stuff.
I appreciate everyone's input.
Points you have with Airline programs do NOT expire if you close a creditcard associated with that program

Actually, if you don't have a united credit card, united miles expire after a period of inactivity (18 mos?). but having the card keeps them from expiring even if there is no activity.
OP: if the only reason you have the united card is to earn miles, then you should close it, as the csp is better for earning. However, you will lose the perks, such as priority boarding, free first bag and 2 lounge passes. If those things aren't worth $95 to you, close the card. But now that I have a family, traveling without checked luggage has become neigh on impossible. I don't use lounges enough to justify the club card, but access a couple times a year is nice. And I know half the known world has priority boarding, but it is still nice to be in that half and not the group that boards dead last.

How long did you have your Sapphire before you PC'd to the Freedom?
I app'd for a Sapphire thinking I was getting a Preferred. Sapphire arrived and couldn't PC it to Preferred so I app'd for Preferred and now I have both. I want to change my Sapphire to a Freedom though.
Two years this April. Pretty sure that an account has to be open for at least a year before they can PC due to the credit card act.

You can transfer all point earned with your Freedom to your CSP account, and then transfer them to your mileage plus account too.... so it's not just points earned with your CSP only!

No wonder why the Chase Sapphire Preferred is so popular!
