Depends on how much credit history you have. I think Chase AF cards are easier to get generally. I got in with them through the Southwest card at 11 months with a starting limit of $5k and don't really have that kind of huge income a lot of people here have. You're probably better off working with what you have now and getting in with Amex. Those cards have a lot of potential to really grow and help you get the higher limit cards you want later on.

And if you're in high school, wait until you're 18 and just get a student card when you're done with high school. I recommend BoA or Discover to start out with or CapOne Journey if you can't get those and work with that kind of card for 6 months to a year. Take these things nice and slow and you'll get there, I promise.

Yes and no. Are they easier to get overall? No.

Are they easier to get with high CL? Absolutely, yes.

Last I checked 6 figures household is what it takes to not live paycheck to paycheck for many in a major metro area. But that's another argument for another forum, Lol.

There is no easy way of telling you (because I'm not Chase).

But with them a good rule of thumb is to check their pre-approval site (Chase pre-qualify).

Unless you're opted out of prescreened offers, they have a good way of checking your eligibility. Grad students get it with about $30k so you might be a little low but not completely off.

I'd say hold on to that thought if you don't get pre-screened offers.

Of course people have got cards even without offers but with Chase, the offers are pretty spot on.

Re: CSP minimum income?

Ok ill try to answer everyones questions: here goes! yes im in my last year of high school ( online for the last 3 years) so it allows me to work an almost full time job, im a front end supervisor at target, obviously i still live at home, now to answer credit questions;

My scores (fico 08) from this site are transunion at 708, experian at 706 and equifax is right under 700. low low low utilitzation, 4 percent i believe. AAOA is 8 months but that is calculated with an AU account thats 4 years old. my cards are as follows,

Discover it $ 47.00 / 2500.00

walmart $ 0 /1400.00

local CU   125 /500.00

cap one secured card 25 /200.00 thinking of dropping this one, would like a quicksilver but they wont upgrade.

best buy in store card   0 /2000.00

target $6 /300.00

and my car loan, which im techinically second on, is about 11,700 out of the origial $13,000 opened last september.

im actually going to hawaii this year for the 4th time, ( Lots and lots of family over their, with my grandparents (mom cant get off work to go) and one of their friends. Was thinking of booking the trip on a CSP and paying it right off but the tickets are probably going to total $4,000.00 That would be a nice bunch of points! so to recap, i think that i would definitly get enough use out of the card to justify the AF.

Only downfall with me is 4 of these account is from the last 3 months  and i have about 8-10 inquiries on each report.

Thanks everyone!

Have you tried this? What are the offers that Chase is showing you?

I thought pre-qualify sites won't work for 18 year olds?  Or am I thinking of someting else?

Re: CSP minimum income?

No minimum, but chase likes to see a profile of using ccs for at least a year and a solid experian score before they give out their ccs. try getting a discover it or a citi cc and build up with that for the upcoming months.

Chase prequal worked for me when I turned 18 a year ago. The major one I know of that doesn't allow 18yr olds is Capital One.

No lender disallows 18 year olds, as age discrimination is against lending laws.
