So I'm ready to throw down my CSP app in a month, But I really don't see it being a good time to throw down 3k for at least six months as I'm buying a house and closing at the end of October.
is there a better sign up bonus deal out there (even though this one is good). Or is it just a better idea to wait until I know I'll spend 3k in 3 mo this for sure.

Well, if you are not going to make the initial spend or if it will be close then do NOT apply for the card. Wait until you know you have the expenses and can make/pay back the 3k. Otherwise you may not be able to get the bonus again or at least for 2 years. The card is nice, but a big part of the appeal is the signup offer. There are other cards you could get in the mean time with lower spend requirements. You do not want to be in position of spending money you would normally not spend in order to meet your spending requirements. I would imagine once you move into your new house you will have a number of purchases to make though. If the offer is 40k then I do not know of the likelihood of the offer getting better anytime soon for the card with AF waived the first year.
If there isn't, ask someone to refer you to earn 5k points and split them with you. 40k points has now become 42.5k points.

Just a reminder, myFICO does not allow 'referrals' either by pm or on the forum.

I wasn't suggesting asking somebody on the forums. But just wondering, have the admins/mods discussed altering this policy? What harm can referrals like this possibly do?

If I pm you to ask for a referral because I learned about the card from your posts, how does that cause a frenzy?
Oh I understand your question now. Well although I don't see anything wrong with it I'm sure there's a valid reason why it isn't allowed.

It was discussed last year around the Discover It hype. Referrals are not allowed because it fundamentally represents solicitation for monetary gain, which is not permitted on the FICO Forums.
We understand that no other member is being "harmed" but we must adhere to our policies and enforce the 'no referral' either publicly or via pm.
It's not solicitation if I ask someone for a referral link that only benefits that person, is it?
