Yes, this seems to be happening a lot lately. I wonder if me waiting about 10mins between apps is what made the difference for me. Who knows I guess.

Did you get only one set of 3 hard pulls for your double app?
Sadly no, I did my apps late at night, and while I was still on the same day here, I leaked over into the following day in the EST. So it shows on my CRs as two days. I think if others could avoid that and make sure that they go back to the prequal site and redo the prequal and follow that portal for the second app, there's a higher chance for a second approval. That's just a hunch, as always, YMMV.
ETA:
There are many others who have apped for both and received just 3 HPs. So it's certainly possible.
