I have tried back dooring Cap 1 a couple of times using the numbers listed on the sticky and I keep hearing that they are not able to do anything. Has anyone had any luck with CLI w/ Cap1 using a backdoor number lately?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
In general, Cap1 still does not offer customer initiated CLI.
Ok.
Thank You

I actually had some luck!! I had 4 Cap One accts and closed two before reading all the threads because they wouldn't offer a CLI and they both had annual or monthly fees. I called the backdoor number a couple weeks later and they said the same thing but then decided to try and submit for it anyway. One of the accounts, the oldest one was not approved for an increase and the CSR said that it might just be a card that will NEVER receive one. The other card is a no hassles cash rewards card,(started as a TJ Maxx card) was approved for an increase from $500 to $2000. I had asked two weeks prior and was told that NONE of my accounts qualified!! So.... my point is that YES, the backdoor numbers can sometimes help with this and it is definitely worth a try. BTW, the inquiry was a soft! ![]()

Was the culmination of the interaction recently? Or before the credit laws kicked in and changes happened to the effect we see now?
hello,
I have two cap1 cards both have very low limits. I just called cap1 to request a cli on 1 of my cards and was approved within minutes.
I used the number on the back of my card 800 955 7070.

If you do not mind me asking, what is your history with Cap One...carrying any balances, what type of card(s), any AF's, and what are your overall FICO's like? What were you approved for ($$$) as an increase?

This was in September. I had just gone on a mini app spree and was approved with $5k, $6k, and $10k credit lines and started to wonder if I could make any progress with Capital One. If they hadn't worked with me, I would have closed that card too!!! I really depends on the card and your credit at the time they open the acctl That one was different than my others because it had been converted from a different kind of acct.
Using the backdoor number, I got my apr lowered from 22.99 to 14.99, but no CLI like I want!
