The the 1k minimum limit on the Quicksilver applies to new applications. We've seen plenty of exceptions when cards are product-changed.
You have a full-fledged Quicksilver, and your new card will reflect that. If you see "Platinum" anywhere on the card, it's referring to the Visa or Mastercard product. Those products are also named Platinum.
As far as CLIs moving forward, bet against them and be pleasantly surprised if you get them. An upgrade to a nice product doesn't necessarily negate the fact that it was originally a starter card. With a few exceptions, most people find that low-limit Capital One starter cards won't grow.

You really don’t get a full-fledged Quicksilver guaranteed - my card is still a Plat even though it has QS branding.

It’s definitely hit or miss and depends on what they’re doing at the time. I don’t know many people with an $8250 Plat...

That’s so weird. Mine just says QuickSilver no mention of Platinum anywhere. But with a sad $500 limit!
It’s incredibly frustrating because my card would probably be WMC if they had actually changed it to a QS. Instead I have a Plat with QS benefits. ![]()
@Anonymous wrote:A product change is not the same as a new card - actually when it comes to Plat to QS conversions, it’s not even actually a QS, you just earn cash back but it still says Platinum online and on statements. You will still be in the same bucket you were to begin with, you’ll just earn cash back when you use it now. Hopefully they will give you a CLI soon now that they offered you the QS upgrade though.
I disagree that there's always a bucket. I'm now at a $12,000 limit on my Plat-->QS-->Venture. And I opened it in October of 2015. I have used it a ton though. Put a lot of spend on it with multiple payments a month (when it was low limit).
