Greetings!!
My Cap One Savor (4% grandfathered) is in the SD because we are not eating out much. Limit is $32000.
I was thinking of converting back to Quicksilver, but what good is that since I also have Citi DC at 2%?
Maybe if Citi cuts the 2% down or starts playing some other game (and not in a good way) the 1.5% on Quicksilver might be useful.
What do others think?
Keep it and just use it solely when you do dine out or make entertainment purchases. Why PC to a lower rate card that you already have covered by another product?
I definitely wouldnt PC back to the Quicksilver, especially since the Savor is grandfathered with no AF. Savor is more valuable than the Quicksilver in my opinion and you have the Double Cash.
As others have stated - I wouldn't do any PC with the card. It's grandfathered in and 4% on dining is a pretty good CB. I would use it every 3-6 months, make a small purchase and pay it off. That way it stays active.
There's no point in a PC as others have said. If you truly see no use for the card (i.e. you aren't eating out much), there's nothing wrong with closing it if you are really sure. I don't like leaving cards open that give me no benefit. If it's just going to sit in a drawer, I can live without it. However, obviously you would lose the grandfathered status.
But does it really matter if you aren't using it anyway? Only you can decide. It sounds like either way (even if you did go back to QS), it will be a dormant card for you.
Putting it another way, you'll never be able to get that card again if you close it or PC it.
Keep the card and use it for your normal restaurant/entertainment spending. If the card goes four months without use, put a small charge on it to ensure that it stays open. With extremely low spending over a period of time, the worst that's likely to happen is a CLD to 10k. In the event that a CLD occurs, it looks like you're in a position where it's not going to cause any inconvenience.
