Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

I currently have a Platnium starter bucketed card and a Quicksilver One. I called this morning to see if I can get my AF waiver on my QS1 and they denied ( no clue why) and there was no upgrade available at this time on this card. They checked my Platnium card and said there was an upgrade available for this one to QS. This is my oldest CC so my question is if I upgrade will this have any negative impact on my credit file? Like effecting my oldest card date or maybe ding me ẃ a new account? Also would this card remain in the dreaded bucket with the upgrade? I don't want to make the wrong choice. You guys know everything so why not check here first. Thanks MFers

Re: Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

If you have a PC available then I would definitely take it. There will be no change in history as it's just the card changing and rewards system. Everything else carries over. What I would do is keep trying to get the AF waived and (I believe 6 months is the necessary time), combine both accounts (keep the QS, close the QS1). I wouldn't worry about the history as closed accounts stay on your report for upto 10 years.

Re: Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

Agreed with the previous post, upgading will not affect your credit reports or scores. All it is is a PC. Everything will remain the same (APR, CL, card number) unless otherwise stated. The only difference is your QS will have a new expiration date and security #. Plus, you’d earn cash back for spending, of course. I had a Platinum, then PC’d to QS.
I’d say go for it!

Re: Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

It's so early in California when I was in my way to work and I just couldn't make that decision without checking ẃ you guys first. I was freaked out I would make the wrong choice. And the fact I trust you more than the reps on the phone. Thank you so much I will call and update.

Re: Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

Upgrading my Platinum to the QS was one of the best things I've done so far this year. Definitely jump on that upgrade offer. Just keep an eye on the website periodically to see if they put back the feature option to combine CL on cards since they don't currently have that available right now.

Thank you. I called right back and completed the upgrade. I hope to be able to combine them one day!

Re: Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

@Ms6Footer How old is/was your Platinum at the time of today's upgrade and did the card image in the app change to the Quicksilver image? Much thanks. Smiley Happy

Re: Cap1 Platnium vs Quicksilver

It is currently 16 months old. I didn’t see it online I had called in to do something else on a different card so I had them check any offers on this card.
