After reading another thread on this board, I requested a CLI from Cap1. It's 14 days past my second statement date. I was approved for a $1,000.00 increase to $1,500.00 from $500.00. For the question they ask, how much do you spend on a cc in a month, I put $1,500.00. Did I leave anything on the table by not asking for more? I typically spend about 1,500 on a card per month. Should I have asked for $2,500? What do you all typically put for that question? I PIF both cards every month prior to the statement date. This will help me not have to make several payments per month.

huh?
you don't/can't request a specific amount from cap1 unless something has changed in the last 5 months....

They make you fill out some info when requesting a CLI. One of the questions they asked was, "how much I spend on a CC in a month?" I should have asked in my original post if my answer to their question has any bearing on the CLI they gave me, or if my answer has no impact on their descision to extend credit.

Oh that question, from what I have read and experienced it actually has very little impact on the CLI offered, for example when my BF requested a CLI 5 months ago he put 2k there and they gave him a 1k CLI, I have also read about people putting a huge number like >10k and still only getting 1-2k increases.
Thank you! I was going to feel really dumb if it did have an impact and I maybe could have squeezed another $500 by changing my answer. All in all, I'm happy with the $1,500 for now. I started with a $200 secured in Jan of this year.

very nice, keep up the good work and ask them again in 6 months

Sounds like you're doing great and making good progress!
Yeah, I don't think that question has too much bearing on CLI. I don't have Capital One anymore, but I used to and I know I've seen it asked occasionally from other lenders. Combined my spending on all credit cards is tiny compared to my credit limits on any given one, and my montly spending on a particular card will rarely exceed about 2-4% of my credit limit. LOL, and I prefer to PIF weekly instead of monthly, so really my usage rarely exceeds about 1-2% before I pay it off. So I think it's mostly a coincidence that you happened to get a total limit of exactly what you listed. I'm sure that question does have some relevance to them, but you can definitely get a WAY higher credit limit than the amount you put and conversely they may have given you a much smaller total amount than you put if that's all you'd qualified for.
It's optional, so I just leave it blank.
I always leave that question blank (I don't answer it) and I got a 3k increase on one card, and a 2k increase on another. So I don't think it matters what you put in there.
