No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
"Bucketing" is our term not a lenders. I've worked in the IT banking field in the past and have never heard it used internally.
CLI's are based on more than just a random FICO score check. Usage is as important if not more important than the score along with current and past CC and loan history. If you do not use the card much do not expect much in the way of CLI's past the couple of early automatics that you may or may not get based on the adverage metrick your in.
Remember lenders are risking there credit to give you higher limits (that's how they make money) if you do not use it why would give it? It's more about using the credit you have than flexing on how big a limit you have.
I've always appreciate this forum's willingness to help, so thank you all. I may cancel it one day but as I currently have a "thin file", I'll let it ride for the time being. To go off tangent, I use all my cards heavily minus the cap1 but I always pay them before the cutting date. So when you say "usage", is it all usage or just what posts?

It doesn't have to be. An unsecured card can still be bucketed.
OmarGB9, I am curious about what your definition of a "bucketed" credit card is.
I have never had a secured credit card, so I guess I don't think about them much.
I just applied online to dbl my cl to 9000. I got a message of 3-5 days so I'll post back to let everyone know the outcome. The site assured me it was a soft pull. I'm also preapproved for a sapphire with an 8k SL and $800 bonus so I'll be taking that offer once cap one has made their decision. I don't want a hard pull for new credit to show up while they are deciding.

Don't worry about an HP showing up while they're deciding. Cap One uses like a 2 month old SP for CLI requests. They don't do a fresh pull the moment you apply for the CLI I'm afraid.
Also, if the request wasn't immediately approved, it's most likely a denial, sorry.
Denied and no counteroffer. "Recent use of the existing limit has been too low". Oh well, Im over worrying about this card. On to better things.
Still in the bucket like me. I'm stuck with 3K and 50+ declined Credit Limit increase letters. Not going to apply for anymore Cap One but I'm happy they approved me when I was just rebuilding.

Sorry for the denial, but unfortunately, I think this serves as further proof that your card is indeed bucketed.
We can appreciate our starter cards (mine was a Citi Diamond secured with a $200 limit) without feeling stuck with them forever (I closed that card a few months later rather than wait for it to graduate, and by the following year, had two new Citi cards with credit limits close to $20K combined). I really do not see how keeping this card open helps you going forward. I would not keep it open out of sentiment or guilt. Cap 1 will be fine.
I can see that some may feel that way but it's still 4500 toward my total CL. It don't kill me to keep it at the bottom of my apple wallet and throw a charge on it every month. I got my sapphire preferred yesterday so that will be getting the majority of my spending for obvious reasons. That brings my card total to 5 with one auto loan. Oh I also discovered a 76 point bump on experian yesterday hahaha. Almost to 800! I've been sitting in the low 7's for what feels like forever. It's been a long 7 year journey but it feels like it's finally paying off.
