He's 100% right.  People have abused calling the Capital One Executive office for less than pressing reasons.  That's why they shut down access to the number.  If people do it here to the email address, they'll do the same.  Also, had you done a little research here by reading the numerous threads on combining limits, you would have known that you can't combine new accounts and would have had no need to call them about the issue.

Re: Capital ONE Executive Office ?! Am I missing something ?

Um actually the accounts do need to be 6 months old before combining.

Listen, you were literally just approved for two 500 dollar cards. Which tends to mean they are giving you a chance with a bare minimum line to see how you do a CLI probably just isnt in the cards right now.

You have a lot to learn about how credit works IMO. You dont just call an EO demand what you want and its handed to you. Time, patience and history are what you need. Period.

You also need to learn to stop being rude to people who are trying to help you. Combining limits has been discussed for days in other threads. I suspect youre mad we arent giving you the answer you want.

Good luck. I hope you do learn that credit is a journey and your expectations are far too high at the moment.

Re: Capital ONE Executive Office ?! Am I missing something ?

+1 Don't take it personal, this forum and members are here to help each other out.  The calls to EO need to stop before the email gets taken away.  FYI - If you hit the luv button and dont get a CLI, please dont start calling or emailing, that just means your account is not old enough or eligible yet for an increase.  Look at this way, if it was your bank, would you just start giving away money by issuing CLIs everytime someone hits the luv button? Would you be upset if you get over 1000 calls a day to your EO staff on issues that CSRs can resovle?  Most likely not and that is the point we are trying to make.

Breath, i know no one is happy after a denial but it is what it is.  Use your cards responsibly, let them age and try again.

Take care and good luck Smiley Happy

Re: Capital ONE Executive Office ?! Am I missing something ?

Joey,

Try to think of credit building as a marathon and not a sprint! It's been a long two years for me and I still only have mediocre scores, but it's a lot better than the 379 I started from. From what I've learned here Capital One is one of the easier companies to get a CLI with. Some companies (as I've read) like Discover and Citi are rather difficult to get one at all. So rest assured that your lines will grow if you take care of them.

Are you enrolled in credit steps? That is something a front line CSR can take care of for you.

KDM is spot on too, he's trying to help.

Alot of sound and good advice given here by some people that have traveled the same road you are going down.   I do not think anyone is trying to be rude to you they are only trying to share there experiences.   I would agree no two trips are alike but warning others of obvious pitfalls and taking notice is important on your trip.   There is not a magic wand to success---only discipline, knowledge and a heck of alot of sweat.

Good luck on your personal journey and please keep us all updated so we can cheer you on.

Re: Capital ONE Executive Office ?! Am I missing something ?

I have my own view of why the EO number was shut down

A) We always told everyone to email first and wait for the call

B) The forum kind of policed itself about not giving the info to those that we thought had no chance of success and shared with them how to set themselves up before contacting the EO so that odds of success were increased greater

C) The number was good for CLI's and AF's waived only

What happened was and this is just IMHO

When the number was published the flood gates opened and I saw this myself and I wasn't even answering EO phones....OMG Geez

1) I was approved for a card yesterday can I get a CLI?

2) I have late payments on my CR's can you remove?

3) I heard I can combine limits will you combine mine?

4) I have a CO will you do a PFD?

5) I was denied call the EO

These last 5 were never part of what we used the EO number for but somehow this is what it turned into......thus now we've lost a very valuable tool and its sad...really it isSmiley Sad

Because now the people that could have benefited from this open door are now locked out .....

The EO always was willing to help with CLI's and AF's and they would always say contact us again in 6 months and will submit again

OP I'll tell you like I have told thousands before ...use the card build history get your credit steps CLI and just maybe by then will have a new avenue to the EO for CLI's but somehow I doubt will ever see that door opened the same..........We probably cost them mega manhours and $$$$$$$$$ for things non related to what they were trying to do.....

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

With a "Combine accounts" link in your online account page. The link went down, and they presumably fixing it, but the combining is NOT done through EO. It's done online with a few clicks.

No, no. That's now how it works. What's "absolutely ridiculous" is posting on a public forum and expecting only agreeable reaction and telling other members of the forum to not read. The way it really works is that you don't have to post if you can't stand the criticism of your methods.

Can anyone imagine working in the EO office and getting these calls day after day. Ridiculous.

Re: Capital ONE Executive Office ?! Am I missing something ?

Many on here have a bad impression of what the EO is. We are all somewhat to blame as many of us push the concept that if youre unhappy with a card even one you just recieved you call the EO and they'll fix it.

Sure sometimes it could have been warranted, but majority of cases were people newish to credit who wanted everything handed to them via EO and thats not why they exist. Using them for basic inquiries is a serious problem and we need to be mindful of the email as well and still not overuse it.

If you are unhappy with a credit limit give it some time and patience then try again. Remember, thousands of cardholders do exactly that and get CLI without ever hearing of an EO.

The other part of this is that every single call and contact is recorded and you dont want to develop a reputation as a PITA customer when they have many many many non PITA customers.
