Is this normal?
A Signature Visa normally has a minimum $5,000 CL.

RIght, but is it normal for CO to upgrade from Platinum to Signature automatically?
It could just be standard operating procedure. Did your limit recently go over 5k? (Have you checked recently, surprise!, maybe?)

No, I just closed an account and combined credit limits; Now I have a single Quicksilver VISA at $7.5K. I started off at $500 on each of the cards, a student credit card 3 years ago.
I don't think CO would simply automatically upgrade to a signature simply because the credit card limit has increased above 5k. In my case the card increased because I closed the other Quicksilver CC and combined the limit to my Quicksilver VISA. Seems there are a few people here who posted topics wanted to upgrade Platinimum to Signature but have failed despite have over 5K for a few years. It would be interesting to know how CO system makes decisions.
In my experience from what I've seen, the method or way in which Cap1 makes some of their decisions can leave one scratching their head. But if this ends up being an opportunity to have a better card/limit now an down the road, then I'd run with it and take advantage.
