After the $600 (that is, that $100 CLI you get after 6 mos of having a Capital One card), which further CLIs did you get? How soon after and for how much?
Thanks
Sadly not many capital one is known for being stingy with credit limit increase us with heavy spend you might get a couple hundred dollars every six months but that's if you're lucky
Yep, I'm on that $100 every 6 months train as @Deeyarht948 mentioned.
I don't expect my Capital One cards to grow much, but I will continue to ask for a CLI every six months.
I got the $100 increase to $600 the other day. Only had the Platinum card open for 2-3 months, got lucky I guess.
the main way to try for higher CL is to put heavy spend on it for 3-4 months - heavy spend means NOT staying under the $600 limit - otherwise they wont see the need to raise it for you
use it as your primary card for that period - pay it off weekly, so that you can spend over the $600 each month
put any utilities on it that you can - use it for gas - transportation - groceries
after 4 months of this, ask for a CLI
My husband asked for an increase at 21 months on his $500 card and got $100. I got my $500 card 1 month after him. After 4 denials for a CLI on my card when I requested it at 18 months I placed all my spend on other cards. At 19 months it said I only spent $2.99 on my card and I got an email at 20 months they automatically increased me from $500 to $2000 😑. I think it was best not to ask and just let it happen. They are stingy!
I requested an increase, and claimed I do not spend enough on the card, and that my monthly payments are too low. I pay my statement in full on the due date, and have had a few months where I've had a $100 reward on there that I've been using. So now I guess I get punished for using a reward, and for having a recurring charge and auto pay. (Mod cut-Not here please) It doesn't matter to them that I have good credit, one bit, it seems -- and their voice recordings all say you can only ask for increases through automated phone or on the website. So if some algorithmn gets it wrong, I guess you're screwed, and too bad.
Exactly. I got denied for not much use and I got denied because "my account wasn't eligible for an increase". I said cool, put my monthly Insta Ink subscription on it and wrote a bad review on WalletHub and Credit Karma 😂. Next thing I know, first month I don't touch it and they increase it 🙄. My husband can't ask for another increase until December. I told him to just leave them alone and see what happens. He definitely spends more on his card than I do and they aren't budging. Calling is a mess, I never understand what they are saying and it's 100% scripted. I gave up calling.
I just got $100 increase ($500 start, now $600) after 100 days. I do use it and pay it often though - maybe $2000 or so a month.
I had my utilities on it -- a $26 recurring charge everything. Crazy woman on the line complaining that it's a balance I have every month and never moves! Lady, it's paid in FULL every month. It's a NEW recurring charge. lol Mod cut -please not here. Disparaging remarks about nationalities are not allowed.
I'm just gonna put it in a drawer. Not using that one again, nor that Quicksilver either. It's not even a subprime Quicksilver, and they still will keep it at just $600. This company is the worst.
