I have a Cap 1 Quiksilver card with a CL of $10K and just was approved for their platinum card with a CL of $3K.. I received the card in the mail today and activated it. I set a pin and then went to the ATM to take some cash out. I took out $100 and then proceeded to try to book out vacation and the card was declined. Hmm.. Checked online and my account was restricted. I then called in and verified their information that they asked and they then told me that the card number was no longer onfile and that the card should be destroyed. **bleep**?! They them told me to apply for a new card if I wanted. I can't even access to my other account online.. I try logging in and it states the account is restricted. I don't know what to do because Cap 1 isn't giving me information and I can't even access my other account. Has anyone had a similar situation happen? It's kind of insulting to be treated like a criminal when I did nothing wrong. :/

I'm guessing that doing a Cash advance as the very first transaction probably threw up a red flag in their system for fraud.
This is worst than the stuff that happened in Nightmare on Elm Street.
I say this without 100% knowledge because I have never set up a pin for cash advances and or ever taken a cash advance, its just the one area I stay away from.
I can see them spooked by a cash advance and then travel purchase, a vacation sounds like you were spending over $600?
they are going to have to give you more information, you owe them money and they just cant lock you out from accessing your account in general. In sounds like a hastily act on their part to up and close you out but keep calling them until you get someone to help figure it out. call a credit analyst, they at least can look over your account and will transfer you to a collections department/ even though its not a deliquent account its closed. they from their can hopefully get some kind of decesion in place for you.
+1 on the initial use as a cash advance.
Probably should've went into a bank to get one if you needed it. At least with the teller asking for ID and your signature, the transaction probably wouldn't have been flagged as fraudulent. Hope the EO can help you get your account reinstated.
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
I figured the cash advance would be a red flag but once I verified my information, shouldn't that have been enough? I already have an open account and when I received my other card, I used that to book a vacation as well, with no issues. I just don't understand how their process works.. Especially since I'm already a cardholder.
Like no ****. I never want to pay any type of interest. I'll take the benefits and cash back but **** paying them interest out of my own pocket lol.

Back at the beginning of my financial 'meltdown' I used cash advances like most people use ATM checking withdrawals, sometimes large amounts and sometimes small amounts. Knowing what I know now, taking out a small amount was not wise because of the fees.
There's the ATM fee, then usually $5 or 5%, whichever is higher, charged by the credit card.
In your case, it's likely the immediate cash advance that got them spooked. I'm certainly not judging (if they offer it, we should be able to use it, right?) but most people have access to cheaper ways to get $100... a brand new card being used like this could possibly indicate identity theft.
That being said, there's no excuse for giving you the 'cold shoulder', especially since you now have a balance on the account.
Like the other posters have suggested, I would go straight to EO/social media on this. Them being 'spooked' is OK; them ignoring you once you call in to verify your identity is certainly not OK.
Please let us know how it works out!
