@FireMedic1 wrote:Congrats on your upgrade. Now you can get cash back. Its how I started. Once you grow some more. Combine the QS1 to the QS and close it out and its 39.00 AF.
That is also what I plan to do for my accounts after I try for CLIs on both accounts. QS1 with a $2750 limit & my QS with only a $500 limit. I am eligible for another upgrade in 2 months. By then my total UTL will be less than 20% & my scores will boost. All of this is such a process. I have had my QS1 which was previously a Platnium for 6 1/2 years! Talk about a sprint in the credit world haha
I hate to rain on your parade, but when you originally applied for the card you were “tiered” into a sub-prime account. That account and any product from then until eternity will always be sub-prime regardless of the product (missing the “one” in the name or not).
You will need to reapply for a new card and get approved for a prime account with a prime credit line in order to have a card out of the sub-prime category.
Search for it on this board. You will find plenty of data to back me up.
I’m sorry. Cap1 is great, but they are tricky about sub-prime vs prime cards.

Congrats OP!
Last December I was approved for a MC platinum, after 3-4 months I upgraded to QS, and till last week my only options was to Venture1, now I can Upgrade to Venture but not comfortable with paying $95 annual fee and not receiving bonus lol.
Congrats!
Use it, pay it, grow it.
Even if you get bucketed, you can still build a relationship with them.
You might have to open new cards every once you are 50 points higher, but you may get handsomely rewarded for doing so.
They have treated me like a king and I could not be happer.
I started with $3k about 5 years ago and my last SL was $30k and I now I have $80k+ unsecured with Cap One.
YMMV!

For what it's worth, my own grandfathered Savor MasterCard was previously an Orchard Bank/HSBC Platinum card, so even though it might be 'bucketed' for CLIs it's still quite valuable to me. ![]()
FWIW, I was able to get the credit line from $300 to $5900, and that's without any account combinations. I have other cards that are much higher, but for my purposes it works quite well.
Also, prime/subprime is really subjective. To an Amex Centurion card holder an Amex Platinum card might be sub-prime. There's no official cut-off or definition for the designations.
I have little to complain about with Cap1 (other than being bucketed). I have been able to get my limit up to an amount that is middle tier for me, but respectable. What I appreciate the most is that they gave me a shot and second they are incredibly reliable. So if I gave anyone the wrong idea about them allow me to correct that. I don’t ever see myself severing my relationship with Cap1.
