Hi all - you might have come across my thread in the approval section about my Capital One Savor approval last week.
With that approval, I now have 3 Capital One cards and I am thinking I really only need two, but I wanted to seek your advice as to how to handle this.
The other two cards I have are:
- The QuickSilver , No AF with $12,000 CL.
- The Venture , $59 AF with $5,000 CL
Now with the Savor, at $95 AF and $5000 CL.
Here are the two scenarios I have thinking about:
- If I close the Venture card and move its credit line to the Savor, then I will have a card I will use frequently with $10,000 CL and only ONE annual fee to pay (for the Savor) since the other card (QuickSilver) does not have AF. My dilemma with this option is that I would end up with two cash back cards, with the QuickSilver most likely to be sock drawered.
- if I close the QuickSilver and move its credit line to the Savor I will have the Savor at $17,000 and two cards with annual fees. The advantage is that one will be for miles, and one for cash.
What would you consider doing?
Capital One won't combine/move limits
Correct, must be close to 3 years ago now they stopped allowing cardholders to combine cards.
Oh darn it. Thanks for letting me know.
I've had good success working with their executive office before. I'll give that a shot and hope for the best.

The EO channel has been 'neutered' for anything other than addressing other types of requests. So, temper expectations and don't expect the EO to hold much weight since the account combination feature was system-driven, not something that could be done manually.
