When you log into the Capital One app you will see a link for earning credit while you shop. A yellow "BETA" badge also appears to let the user know it is still in the trial phase. So far there are only 13 stores appearing: Bloomingdales, Macy's, Columbia, JCPenney's, Ebags, MooseJaw, Vineyard Vines, Vitacost.com, Sur la table, Groupon, Outdoor Voices, Prana, and GoPro.
You will receive the savings as a statement credit on your card account within 3 billing cycles. There is a FAQ section on the app with more details.
