Hi guys, newcomer to the forums and happy to be here!
I have a quick question and I'll try to make this thread as simple as possible as to make it easy to read. I have been using Capital One since October 2010 of this year so I just recently signed up for their secured card thanks to the research and threads on these forums.
Now here are some of the events that have occurred so far:
1. Received first statement for October (billing cycle was from 10/19 to 10/24 - this was when I first received the credit card and the only charge was the annual fee of $24)
2. Received second statement for November on 11/26 (billing cycle was from 10/24 to 11/24 and I paid this statement in full)
3. Haven't received third statement as of yet but I paid off charges that I made from Nov. to Dec. in full
I have read the Capital One FAQ and it states that it usually produces a statement within 4 days of the end of the previous billing cycle unless certain conditions are met (no transactions, no interest charges, etc.) but I know that I have made charges and payments to the December billing cycle (assuming it is from 11/24 to 12/25 which I just calculated as 31 days from my last statement #2) so it should be showing up on my online account, but alas it hasn't.
I used the search function on the board and couldn't find a similar thread (apologies if there are) and have researched the web to see if anyone had similar problems to me but couldn't really find any except a thread from a different forum where one person who didn't receive a statement 12 days after the fact (but I'm not sure that's relevant).
My main concern is that I made some recent charges after this billing cycle of 11/24 - 12/25 (I'm not entirely sure if this is even the accurate billing cycle since I haven't received a statement for this period thus far) and when I login to my Capital One Account, the "Pay My Bill" green button icon is still showing my payment due date as of 12/21/10 (should be a January 2011 date if I had received the statement).
Should I be worried about this? Should I wait a couple days more for the statement to show up? Has this ever happened to anyone before or has anyone not received their statement for December from Capital One yet? Am I jumping the gun too soon (haha) and there is some lag time for Capital One to update?
All these questions are running through my mind.
Thanks for anyone who can help!
Good one with your Item #3. Well, I never experienced that particular issue but I keep my own records just like we do for checkbooks to make sure I check off all of the items that I charged and paid off because their web site is not real-time updates and do not show pending items. So, to keep myself safe I know that I spent 36.xx but I would send 40-45 just to cover myself. If their bill pay is behind schedule, then I would push the funds FROM my bank account's Bill Pay feature rather than going to Cap1's site. If you have about 8 extra bucks, then MoneyGram works just as fine.
I can't speak to your account, and certainly worth a try to call at least the automated telepohine system to see balances and so on, but also check your statement history. I know it's a short history, but they always cut the statement on the same day each month, IME. Also per lag times between due date and statement, in my experience, my due dates are always the 28th and my statement dates are always the 3rd of the following month, no matter the month. That means anywhere from 3 days (in Feb) to 6 days has passed between the two dates and usually that info is available on the following day. In other words, I cannot see the statement info until the day after the statement cuts (or that night). Of course, applying 6 days means that it should have cut now anyway.
BTW, I had $0 balances and still got a statement though.
