Capital One PC/CLI Denials

Hello! So for months I have been trying to get CLIs on my Cap1 accounts. The last CLIs I received were well over a year ago.

In September I PCd both cards. Plat previously secured to Quicksliver & the other 6 yr old plat to QuickSilverOne. That is what I was being offered, so I took it.

Because I PCd both of my accounts does this mean I am not eligible for any CLI for 6 months? Which is in February 😐 it would make more sense as to why I am being denied the CLIs.

Before combining my two Cap1 accounts I wanted to try and get CLIs on both accounts. Not sure that is happening anytime soon.

Anytime a change is made to any of your Capital One CCs, whether it's a CLI, account combination and/or PC, you would need to wait ~6 months before requesting a CLI.

So, even if your last CLI was over a year ago, if any of the other changes took place, wait 6 months from when those became effective.

Re: Capital One PC/CLI Denials

Thank you for clarifying. I surely understand now why I have gotten so many denials for the CLIs.

My UTL total is 58% right now. I am doing my best to hold off all apps for a BT of $1500. My scores are nearing the mid 600s. EQ has not updated. When it does it should be a good increase in points. Due to having 2 Cap 1 accounts already, what is the likely hood of being approved for a non bucketed Quicksilver? I hoped for an Amex but I feel I will not Prequalify until my EX is at 650 or more.

You can request CLIs after PCs. I've done it. Heck, I've even requested and received a CLI in the middle of a fraud investigation. Smiley Happy

Aren't the results more on a case-by-case basis?  Nearly most DPs, while not absolute, seem to point out that any type of account maintenance typically resets the CLI clock, of course barring the usual credit-based instances.   Granted results can vary but going by experience and DPs floating around.

Re: Capital One PC/CLI Denials

I can concur the PC has nothing to do with the CLI denial. I PC’d my card right after a CLI and got an increase 6 months after the last CLI. CapOne is going through some serious changes. No longer is it the “easy” card to get. I find them more difficult than some of the other big banks anymore. Some of the reasons they will give you for CLI denial can be bogus/random as well.

*expand your relationship with more creditors, I would avoid a 3rd card through CapOne. With your score you might have a pre-qual on Discover site.
*Also 58% util might be too high. It depends on a lot of factors.
1 - is it always hovering around 58% util month-after-month
2 - has util been higher than that for many months as you pay it down
3 - was your util lower at one point then go way up for a few months and hover there

Like I said many of factors involved. Also keep in mind the “overall util ratio” isnt what they go off anymore, creditors are going Card by Card util. If you have 6 cards with under 30% util but one that’s always maxed out then that will be a problem regardless if your “overall” util is lower.

Do a CLI   BEFORE combining the accounts together. Otherwise it counts and you'll have to wait another 6 months (like me).

Re: Capital One PC/CLI Denials

Op, compared to me, you've done well getting not only 1 but to PC's from them! Late last year, I gave up trying to PC my QS1 to a QS, after 2 years of hearing there isn't an offer on my account to do it, and I can apply for one. So I then closed the account.
