Re: Capital One PC. HELP PLEASE!

Cap One does reward loyalty.

Sometimes you will have to apply for a new card, but they can be very generous to loyal customers.

I went from $0 to $3000 @ 24% to $80,000 TCL ($30,000 @ 13%) in 4 years.

That is worth HPs to me.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

I would argue that's not so much loyalty but having an improving credit profile to get extended a lot of credit with better terms.

Capital One only hard-pulls for new cards. For new cards, they'll pull all three bureaus. Anything else you request will involve a soft pull or no pull. I don't think they do any pull at all for product changes.

For a product change to happen, there has to be an offer. If you check and no offer is available, the MO is to try again in a month.

I recenty did a PC with Cap One. Do you know if the timeline for a CLI resets with the PC? Do I have to wait 6 months after the PC to request a CLI?

Good question! I'm wondering the same since I just had an increase in February.

Re: Capital One PC. HELP PLEASE!

Your CLI eligibility timeline remains the same.

Everything about the new card will be the same except for the rewards structure, the verification code on the back, the annual fee (if applicable), and possibly the expiration date.

If I were you I'd just get the new card as well and then combine your other card into it. All of the terms on the new card would stay the same and you are basically just closing the old card and putting the limit into the new one. Just my .02 though.

When combining cards, the age of the combined cards is the one that remains after combining. That's why I would like to PC my QS Platinum to a regular QS, but unsure if this is possible. As I understand it, the QS Platinum is considered a low tier card by Cap1, whereas the QS is the next tier up. I already have 2 cards in the top tier, which I think is the max you can have (and 5 altogether). My QS Plat CL is $3,800 and my limits on the other 2 are $30K and $15K. The first time I asked for a CLI on QS Plat, it went from $1K to $3.5K. A couple of days ago, I asked again and they only upped it another $300. I sense that the lower tier cards don't have the same growth potential as the upper tier cards. That's another reason I would like to PC.

Has anyone gotten a CL greater than $3,800 on their QS Plat?
