Decided I wasn't going to apply for anything that isn't American Express this year (see my other threads - I might try smoke signals, Morse code, courier pigeons, or countertop soda machines next). So why not trim fat elsewhere, and see what to do about less-often-used cards or things that don't earn rewards in the meantime.
Platinum MasterCard was my 1st post-bankruptcy - they gave me $300 in March 2020. This upped to $500 after several on-time payments, then about a year later grew to $1,000 and after that $1,500. Maybe 6 x months ago, they more than doubled it to $4,000! I obviously wasn't about to let this go - thanks to an upgrade link someone posted earlier, I changed over to a VentureOne.
Same credit limit, $0 annual fee, and account number - just earns 1.25x miles on all purchases now. They should be sending me a rebranded card in the weeks ahead. It will travel very nicely with my Venture Visa ($3,000 limit, $95 annual fee, 2x miles) and Quicksilver MasterCard ($3,500 limit, $0 annual fee, 1.5% cashback). I've found the Capital One travel page to be very easy when it comes to booking airline award flights.
P.S. - Don't listen to anyone on the Delta SkyMiles-AmEx Facebook page.
congrats on the upgrade
Congratulations on the upgrade. I'm holding on my C1 QS1 for at least 2 more years with hopes of a PC to something better.
Congratulations on the upgrade.
Nice, congratulations on your Cap 1 upgrade!
Congrats on your Capital One Platinum to VentureOne Upgrade
Congrats on the upgrade!
Great progress on your credit!
Congrats on the upgrade! From the DPs I've seen with others and my PC experience it seems that the PC to VentureOne becomes a more likely option once the CL hits $3k. My QS1 was able to PC to V1 after a CLI that took it to $3500 (its no longer a V1 and I've moved some of my limits around since then fwiw). If you didn't already have a QS I'd say that could be an option in the future (I did a second PC from V1 to QS). Maybe you can be one of the lucky ones who get the opportunity to PC over to SavorOne.
Thanks everyone for the responses and kudos! Card arrived Monday - it is indeed the same account number, just updated expiration and security code. Boring plastic (yes I care), but understandable for a $0 annual fee card...
For others in search of an upgrade - I'm not sure I have much else to share in terms of data points, I'm afraid. The upgrade link offered me either Quicksilver or VentureOne. If you notice my signature, I have a strong penchant for travel cards over cashback. Just for a lark, I tried the very same upgrade link for my existing Quicksilver and it didn't return any offers.
