Capital One — a mystery wrapped in an enigma

Just requested a $750 CLI on my Platinum card, denied. Requested $3k on my QS, approved. I've been maxing out my Platinum for months trying to get a PC or CLI, no spend at all on my QS. This is against all folk wisdom regarding C1 CLI's, yes? My Platinum started out as a $300 secured card 15 years ago, now it's a $750 unsecured card. Took them about 7 years to graduate it. I'm holding out hope for a CLI or PC on my Platinum, I just consider the $29 AF a lottery ticket for a chance at a Venture X with no HP.

It may not be possible to increase your Platinum card's credit limit:

Re: Capital One — a mystery wrapped in an enigma

Congrats on that cli. Someone else recently posted a similar story about Cap1. They requested a cli on the card they were heavily using and got denied. Then tried a cli for their QS they never use and was immediately approved for a decent amount. I got a Cap1 card last summer and successfully requested 2 cli's with barely any use. I'm not complaining but it does make it tough to determine what Cap1 wants these days with their cardholders 🤔

Avoided credit cards after ruining my financial health but got back into the game in 2019 after a 20 year hiatus

Re: Capital One — a mystery wrapped in an enigma

I may be mistaken, but isn't the Cap 1 Platinum limited to around 3k anyway? I think if I were you, considering your otherwise pretty strong line of of cards in your siggy, I'd strongly consider either PCing the platinum, or showing it the door altogether. just my 2¢

without a 10k limit, your Platinum shouldn't ever get a Venture X PC offer. Agree with above, close it.

Your quicksilver might now though.

Does the prequal offer you Venture Rewards/Savor?
