Capital One, is one strange company

I closed my Capital One Venture card this past 01/2015 for they would not budge on reducing my APR from 16.9% to a more decent rate more inline with my other cards. But I'm still able to go online and make changes to my closed card preferences and I'm still receiving my monthly credit tracker from Transunion offered my Capital One, so strange!

They are indeed strange. Same thing happened to me and it didn't stop until January. Card closed in early October. 😑 Eventually the system will understand that you've closed the account. Not sure why it takes so long.

Re: Capital One, is one strange company

I closed mine a couple of days ago and when I tried to log in they said my account was closed. Closed account because 500$ limit for 4 yrs. By far lowest cl considering 15 accounts with 7500 plus limits. The good thing was I didn't even have to talk to a rep all automated. You did yourself a favor.

Re: Capital One, is one strange company

I closed my Cap One cards last June and am still getting Credit Tracker access. I wonder if it's because I still have a Cap One 360 account and they link everything as much as they can now.

Nope, they are not going to budge on a rewards card.  I guess the lowest they could have moved is to the 13.99% that is in their current T&C?

As for the others, I again laugh at how you guys get mad with the lender because they will not do what you think that they should do.  And I hate to say this, if you pay the card in full or charge no more than what you could afford to pay off each statement, APR doesn't matter.

thats me, if I do not get my way with a lender, so long! And lets be really, in a perfect world, most people would like to pay their bills in full each month, but sometimes I can't, personally speaking! Its not a matter of spending beyond ones means, unforeseen things happen

Re: Capital One, is one strange company

The amount of time may be longer than some, but not strange at all. A closed account is still in force long as there's a balance due. Also, for continued access to various perks (ie. the credit tracker you mentioned), redeeming rewards, and for changing one's mind to reopen the account.

On an aside, a closed bank account, even years later, can sometimes be reopened. I don't know if that's possible with credit card accounts.

+1 People have fits and coniptions if Cap 1 doesn't do what they say. Have you asked why they won't change it? What did they say? They don't like you? You're a horrible account holder? What excuse did they give?
