My QS1 is almost 3 years old. 100% on-time payments, always PIF. I've even over paid this account twice and C1 had to issue a check for the over payments. They were the second card in by journey, scores near 600 when approved the CL was $300. I've asked for CLI every 6 months after the first year, not always approved. The current limit is a sad $700. I pressed the LUV button, filled on all the fields. They offered $100.... I know the card is bucketed. I've tried to PC link, there are no offers for me. I've also tried the pre-qualify and no offers. So I decided to call in and actually speak to someone. PC, lower interest rate. Nope nadda offers for me, and he saw I refused the CLI. I asked what was the date I needed to cancel the card so I wouldn't be charged the AF. The rep couldn't give me a date, some time in July. I have all my monthly charges on it, I told them I would call back by the end of the week to cancel the card. He asked me to hold on..... came back and said he cancelled all my auto payments. I was horrified!!!!! I asked, oh you set them up on other accounts? I got an 'No, you'll have to do that'. WTH!!!!!! Card cancelled today! GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!!!

Don't feel bad I kicked Cap-1 to the curb several years ago for being not worth my time. Congrats on getting rid of the dead weight.
thats funny
i just planned to post the exact same thing.
i had my first credit card from cap 1 after i decided ill start to build my credit.
got $500 limit about 1.5 years ago
since then build it very nice i now have amex blue prefferd, amex platinum, amex business gold, chase sapphire (7k limit) and im getting daily mail offers from citi bank double cash credit card, discover mail me twice already to apply to discover it, and few more small banks.
all of the cards include my car payment have perfect payments with no balance at all every month.
and cap1 offer me upgrade to quicksilver card instead of that platinum(lol) card. but no limit increase, and when i ask for the increase over the website the offer me +$100 ?? really ? are we here to play games ? what ill do with it ? buy ice cream? come on people no way banks and companies around you offer much better options when you agree to add $100 to my limit. seriously ?
Sheesh- that's rotten..
I was annoyed with my lame $300. CLI.
I've had the card like 2.5 years, they gave me auto increases of $300. about twice per year total $3300, with the recent cli it's at $3600.
ppfffttt...
I PC'd it to a QS about 5 months ago- didn't help. lol
Capital One has a place in the credit world but it's not in my wallet. ![]()
My QS (PCd fr Platinum) is $850,also offered $100 CLI @ 14mos. Have only used for Netflix for months.
Does it make more sense to keep or close oldest card? Close in 4 mo when 1st Amex turns 1yr? Just keep it, remind myself of where I started?
They did start me on the road to Chase, Discover, 2 Amex cards (each being 5 to 35 Xs the CL of CapOne).

Keeping the oldest account is always recommended as long as you have no annual fee.
I know. But my FICO brain wanders when others mention what I've been thinking. I was set to keep CapOne PCd to whatever it can be someday... maybe at 1k?
But I've been seeing more and more ppl saying to go ahead and drop CapOne, it stays for years anyway. CapOne has no respect for "bucket ppl." But, as you say... No fees, no problem there. Maybe it's even good to keep it, remind me never to have to start over again.

BofA is my oldest Visa, I pay an annual fee on that one, but there is a $5500 limit and last year I got almost $400 cash back. BofA has grown with me, hoping for another nice anto CLI in August again. I did get BofA to lower interest, even though I alway pay in full. Until Amex came into my life (
) I ran almost everything through BofA, 7 year banking relationship as well.
Last year I paid the C1 $39 annaul fee and received less than $50 back. I'm gardening for a long while, C1 doesn't have any products worth the 3 pulls. Hopefully my scores won't drop for long. Also, as of today I didn't even pre-qualify.
I'm glad to break up with C1....it's over, so over!
I was charging Nexflix, Hulu and my imperfect produce through it. ![]()
