Capital One tightening up?

In February I submitted for CLI after the third statement, only offered $100 so I declined until I got my Spark card paid down a little. Two weeks later tried again and got no offer, reason said too many inquiries.

This week we submitted for my wife a CLI as its been 6 months since the previous one and other accounts open a year. A lot of use, multiple large payments, FICO's all above 650, and it came back also with too many inquiries. Neither of us have over 10, more than I care to have but also part of our long term plan. I think CO has become more sensitive, just thought others could use the data points.

Re: Capital One tightening up?

Something seems to be changing.  I have always been PQ'd for multiple cards when checking and they have given me multiple $3K CLIs on my Venture over the last 18 months.  While I don't need another Capital One card, I check their PQ form every so often....just because.  Lately (last month or so), I have not been PQ'd for anything.  I am interested to see what the next 6-month CLI request will offer, if anything.

It makes me wonder if these banks know about something coming down the pipe us lowly people aren't aware of just yet.

Re: Capital One tightening up?

Maybe it has something to do with the rumors of Amazon looking to buy Capital One. Smiley Happy

Re: Capital One tightening up?

I can't get a prequalified offer from Capital One to save my life.  Just deposited $10,000 in one of their savings accounts to get a $200 bonus and to hopefully get on their radar, and still no offers.

Same here. I have given up on Crapital One. I have a Spark Classic and a QS1. I will PC them and CLI them to death but this time next year I will be eligible for a Chase Ink for my business and then Crapital One will get SD'd to death. Too little reward for 3 HP's

Re: Capital One tightening up?

Just got the Ink Plus bonus and it is awesome.  Some may get excited about the CSR bonus, but Ink Plus is probably the better value.  Good luck on the app!
