If u had a card over 10 years ago and it was charged off will they automatically deny if u do an app?
As a general rule of thumb, CapOne will often approve people for a new card when they apply on their way to the car after leaving the courtroom where they just included them in their bankruptcy. After 10 years, you should be fine.
+1 I have seen some in these forums that defaulted 3 and 4 times with Cap 1in the past and with the passage of time (like 6 months) still got in (again). So after 10 years easy peasy for Cap 1.

Agree, my DW and I got back in with CapOne about 1 year after including them in BK. And apparently it wasn't the common "bucketed" tier of cards either, as both of our cards have grown as they were used. Started out as Platinum with an annual fee, and eventually product changed to Quicksilver and Venture One with no fees.
After 10 years, you would probably be given keys to the kingdom!
In Cap 1 disclosure statement, they state that you have to wait a year from the charge off date to be eligible to apply for another card with them.
While I think Capital One is a solid lender for many, I'm so struggling with their "logic"
Burn them for $10,000.00, get $35,000.00
Two new accounts, *Haha, no soup for you*
My history/experiences with Cap One is long... I defaulted/charged-off several of their accounts several times in a 10 - 15 year span in my life, and yet was always able to come back. Currently I have three cards with them, and have built up great credit with them the past 4 years or so. So much so that one of my cards even has a 30,000 credit limit..
Unlike American Express, or Chase, who oft times have blacklisted defaulters for life, or for decades before even thinking about giving them credit again, Capitol One is usually very forgiving in a short amount of time. I guess maybe Cap One feels taking on the higher risk customers, can pay off due to volume ???, and maybe those customers that they do give 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances to, who do end up turning it around and being great customers, will stay loyal to Cap One too.
