Capital one PC

One of the Capital one cards I have is a platinum secured card I got about 10 years or so ago when I was doing some credit rebuilding, it has a $2,200 limit and I have never missed a payment. Needless to say a card with a smaller limit like that and absolutely no rewards of any kind make it compeltely pointless to use over some of my other cards.

Has anyone ever done a product change from a secured card to a normal unsecured revolver?  I have read that Cap one has a 2 card limit per customer, so If possible I would like to get that platinum secured card over to something like a Venture card. I don't really want to close it and open another one and lower my average age of accounts.

Thank's in advance!

Re: Capital one PC

Yes you can definitely do a product change and still be within the 2 card limit. Your CL will be the same as well as your APR. you would just get the benefits added from the venture one card.
What they look at is that you use the card and make some bug enough payments over the MIN. That's due every month and better chances if you bring balance to Zero. But of course it is CAP1 we are talking about and they may say no to that high f a jump but it won't hurt to try and ask. All they would say is no we can't. So I would give it a try if you think your in a good position and been good with your CC. Good luck if you do try... please update if you do

Re: Capital one PC

The Cap1 two card limit only applies to their subprime cards (Platinum, QS1, or secured).  You can have five of their cards total.  To turn your secured card into a Venture, you'd first need to get it unsecured.  I'm not sure if it can be requested by the consumer w/ them or not, but you could call and ask.  Once you have an unsecured Platinum card, then you'd need to check the Cap1 upgrade link periodically to see if you have any PC's available to you.  I think the usual upgrade offered on an unsecured Platinum is to the QS.
