May I suggest one reason straight from a supervisor from capital one last week.

I had called them for another reason. When that was resolved, I asked about the possibility of combining my accts, she said both cards need to be the same. Mine are one visa, the other is MasterCard. Not eligible to combine.  Thought I'd just throw that out for consideration. Good luck!

I can personally say the supervisor is incorrect about this. 

I have both a QS Visa Platinum and QS1 MasterCard, and they are both eligible to be combined into the other (either way I want).  Others on here have also reported having no issues combining a Visa into a MasterCard (and vice-versa).  Baller's master thread has more information about this.

I tried testing this last month but both cards cut a statement with single digit interest charges *oops*. Will test this again on the 21st.

And +1 on needing to be more transparent. I don't think it's really a trade secret at risk with this process but who knows

For me, having a statement cut doesn't matter one way or another - as soon as the 'donor' account has a zero balance and no pending transactions, in my case it becomes immediately eligible for it's credit line to be transferred to the other card.  I've had my accounts go from 'eligible' to non-eligible' mulitple times a month due to making a charge, then immediatly paying it off.

Hey, that's not your fault at all... it's just what you were told!     It's just too bad they sometimes give out the wrong info.

The other thread is lengthy... you might want to start from the more current posts (around three months or so) and go from there.  Most of the 'good stuff' has been repeated since the thread was first started, so going back to the very beginning isn't absolutely necessary... unless you just really want to!  LOL

Thanks everyone for the response. Bodyboy1: yes, the account I'd like to close has a zero balance with no pending transactions. I just tried today, nothing. All accounts well over the required months. It's just frustrating sometimes, but tis the season to be jolly,lol. I won't let this get to me, I won't.

Thank you uncle B for sharing baller4life's orginal thread. Alot of information on there that's for sure,. My members are just having the same issues, seems like cap1 motto is to "keep trying"!!!!!!!!!!!
