So... now that the Venture X is out and the Cap 1 travel portal is up, I have some questions for those that have access to the portal. I'm very curious if Cap1's portal allows you to book flights with airlines such as American/United. My thought process being American is under the "One world" alliance which british airways is under and United is under the "Star" alliance which Air Canada is under. It would be killer if you could use your points to book flights in real time through their travel portal.
Does anyone have any experience or feedback?
Thanks!

Are you asking about transferring points to partners and then booking that way or are you asking if you can just use points to book straight away?
Sorry about the confusion, I was hoping I could book with every airline. E.g. United, Delta etc. but using my points at the rate of certain transfer partners that are in the same air alliance, if that makes sense?

Every airline alliance partner has their own award chart or they're dynamic pricing. There's no way to get universal cost amongst alliances. Delta and KLM are part of SkyTeam but they price their flights different even though you'll see them code sharing.
The only way to get consistent value is to book directly with the airline and then erase the purchase at via CapOne's purchase eraser (if that's a thing on the Venture X).
I went on the portal for you. You can use money or your miles to pay for a ticket on the airlines you mentioned. You can also use purchase eraser for those. You can't transfer miles to any of domestic airline.

@wingennis Dude, you're my hero. So it looks like if you want to take advantage of point ratio - you should transfer points out to an airline partner then use points at an alliance airline if you want... do you find the prices on the travel portal to be not heavily inflated compared to what you can get directly from the airline(s)?>

Here is the same flight from United's website:

Just want to point out that just because you transfer points to an airline doesn't mean that there will be availability. The perk of using the purchase eraser is that you can book as your normally would and then erase the purchase with the points you have. With transfer partners, there have to be award space at the saver level in order for you to book.
So if you transfer points out to say Virgin, it doesn't mean that because you have the points that Delta will have availability for you to use said points to book a flight. Some airline partners are better than others. I can speak for my situation where I'm finding that most of American's saver space has dried up. I used to take advantage of MR to BA for short haul on AA but there's little to be had these days. However if I search the same route and I'm willing to spend AA miles, I can find availability.
Just wanted to point this out so that you don't get the idea that just because you have currency in a partner that it means you'll always be able to find flights. With that being said, another take away is, never transfer points speculatively. Always make sure that the transfer partner has saver space before making any sort of transfer.

I am a big fan of the purchase eraser. Sometimes life doesn't allow for all the ideal circumstances to align on the correct moon with Saturn in the right house. You have to get somewhere and this is just another great option.

Quoting this again for emphasis.
