Hi all, I had a quick question about Capitol Ones blacklist. I had both a platinum and a Kohl's card that I defaulted on and they both went to collections. Both credit limits were 300$ . I paid both in full in April of this year and both have been deleted from my credit report. Typically I've heard that capitol one is forgiving but for me I'm not so sure. I have applied for the secured card twice and be denied with a hard pull. Thanks in advance for any insight! Data points are below for my credit profile now.
Keep trying the Cap1 pre-approvals monthly until you get one. While they are known to be lenient/forgiving, they have tightened up recently. Good luck!

In a 4 month timeframe you opened 7 accounts. The car loan is an instalment loan. Dont need the Self Lender. 2 Installments doesnt help. One is fine for credit mix. If the furniture is a Consumer Finance Loan. FICO hits you with that. They dont care for that. I'd let it go for a while. Thats a lot in such a short time. Thats probably why Cap1 denied you. Yes Cap1 is forgiving after a year from whatever happened. Though all those new accounts might be hurting you for now. Let what you have now age.
After your current accounts all are past 6 months old app for the QS1 unsecured not the secured. Cap1 has a policy no new cards till at least 1 year post CO of a defaulted account.
