Care Credit

Thinking of applying for Care Credit, anyone know which FICO version and score requirement for approval. TIA

Re: Care Credit

They definitely use TransUnion.  While Synchrony is apparently now using VantageScore 4.0 to manage their accounts, I am not sure if they have also moved on to using it for applications as well or are still using FICO 8.  (The only Synchrony app I have done since the switch was for the Rakuten card and since I got the best terms I didn't get the letter stating a score.). Typically we see approvals at mid-600 and up FICO 8 scores, though.

Re: Care Credit

I have a TU score of about 640, with quite a few (10 or so) inqs when I applied.  I was approved at $4k.  I have one collection that is holding me back.   I usually keep my util under 10%, no lates.

Re: Care Credit

legit question because i dont know the answer - what is the advantage of care credit over a regular cc? I am about to realize a life-long ambition and spend upwards of $20k getting all of my teeth crowned - would i benefit by using Care Credit? Thanks!

No interest if paid in X months for 6/12/18/24 months.  Of course on a 24 month promo, even if you just had a $0.50 balance left after the 24 months , for a $20k purchase you would be hit with around $10k in retroactive interest in month 25.  Fortunately Synchrony always makes this clear, but my assumption would be that a substantial number of cardholders fail to pay these and other 0% if... offers off in time.

They also offer extended terms of fixed payments up to 60 months with APRs in the mid teens.

IME that card was a grower,

Synchrony can be very generous

in both SL and CLI's with Care Credit,

credit score dependent ofcourse.

Best of luck whatever your decision,

Cheers
