It has been a year since the last activity on my CareCredit card. It's a card I definately want to keep because it may come in handy for medical purposes with a great zero APR. If a card is being considered for closure due to inactivity, will Synchrony notify me? Or will I just check one day and find it closed?

You'll check one day and find it closed, unless you live in California. Try and use it twice a year, to keep it from being closed for inactivity.
Just use the card if you want to keep it so that you don't have to wonder if one day it's going to close. They've made it even easier to use...if there's a Walmart or Sam's Club close to you then go there, buy box of bandaids and be done with it. Heck you can even buy a bottle of shampoo just for activity.
Check out their website as it contains some very useful information of the can and can't of the card as it relates to Walmart/Sam's Club. For what it's worth I was able buy a box of bandaids for a couple of bucks and that's enough for activity.

I was going to suggest Rite Aid, but I realize that store has some regional limitations. Walmart and Sam's Club certainly don't have that limitation, so it's good to see they are locations (for now, anyway), where CareCredit can be used. However, what you can purchase at Walmart and Sam's Club is far more limited than what you can purchase at Rite Aid (anything but GCs).

This is exactly what happened to me. I had used it once in the year I had it, but I PIF before statement cut, and of course, it cut with a zero balance. I literally went to go use it for my glasses one day, and it was declined. Found out it was closed that morning! LOL..
So, advice..find something, anything....to use it, and let the balance cut on the statement. Letter in the mail stated closed for inactivity on the account.
Go buy a pack of gum at rite aid that will keep them happy. I usually do that every 6 months or so. Keeps them off my back.
@pizza1, do you recall how long the card was inactive before you closed it?
Works like a charm at Walmart, just swiped for OTC and first aide. Who knew
Thanks for the info everyone. Happy Holidays to all.

I’ve gone up to three years without using my carecredit and they haven’t closed it. It’s been a few years since I’ve used it and last month I called and got an increase from $1,500 to $6,000 🤪🤗 I’ve had it for 7 years
