@sarux3 wrote:Amazon Visa (Chase) pre-qual, couldn't obtain CR
I stumbled upon the existence of the Amazon Visa prequalify link while perusing MF this afternoon, and of course I had to go push the button for myself! "Wouldn't it be funny to get prequalified under LOL/24 and 3 years past BK where Chase was IIB, hahaha" and all that... anyway, I put in all the info, clicked the button, and got a message: "sorry we couldn't prequalify you because we couldn't obtain your credit report". Weird, right? I don't have any bureaus frozen, so I figured I must have mistyped something... went back and carefully put in the information, hit the button, and got the same message. So now I'm wondering if my being on Chase's CC naughty list just precludes the system from attempting to SP my CRs, hence this message. Does that sound about right to you all?
I've gotten the same message for the last several months. Reports weren't frozen and I've never had a chase credit card.
very weird.
When I did apply a couple months ago, they had no issue pulling the report and giving thorough denial reasons.

I knew soon as Amazon picked Chase that Amazon would lose some sales. Not from myself since there are other cards to make buys from them on, but definitely having Chase sponsor your online retail (with their tightened card policy) for some folks might just put a kink in Amazon sales where otherwise wouldn't be, sending them elsewhere.
Do you have any data or stats that support the bolded statement? The same could be said by individuals who cannot obtain a Chase Amazon Visa and dislike Synchrony as the alternative. Besides, no one is forced to obtain a Chase co-branded CC as there are plenty of individuals who use other payment methods and Amazon sales aren't suffering as a result of that.
Also, I got the Chase Amazon card in 2004, so Amazon picked Chase a long time ago. And I believe Amazon did rather well since then, imagine if they had picked a good card issuer!
Hi just went to Amazon pre approval link and was taken to the Amazon web site it had myname and address it only ask for my last 4 digits os ssn. In less then thirty seconds it came back saying you are pre approved for the Amazon visa card. Did not pull the trigger because I burnt chase about 21 years for about 80K bunch credit cards and loan, don't trust the pre approval and also just got approved for the Custom cash card did not want another inquiry on Experian. If I did get approved for the Chase Amazon card the Chase is changing ther tune.
@K-in-Boston wrote:This one's worked for me to get the you aren't prequalified answer when I have tried. I'm not actually planning to get it, but curiosity... Not sure if Chase just isn't liking me right now or if maybe there's no prequal for those who already have the store card? Anyone with the store card already get a preapproval?
I already had the Amazon Business Prime Amex card when I checked the preapproval link just the other day. Instant approval despite already having an Amazon credit card and being over 5/24.

Tool never works for me either, always get that "cannot access your credit report" message. Nothing frozen or anything.
I have gotten one consideralbe CLI and now one new card in just a week thanks to reading MF.
I will keep reading but I have to stop taking these threads and posts so literally. The Amazon Prime Visa Signature card has been on my chart for a long time.
However I am in the middle of a major home reno and of course this is the season for some major landscaping. I have been bombarded with 0 percent offers lately, and of course I am using them. But this increases my utility up to 11.
I have no big things coming up before next year therefore I was not worring about the utility or possible drop in scores too much. I hang around the low 800s and find that I lose and gain the same four score points all the time.
EX is always my worst score because they love to stick the inqs on me. I have ten with them as opposed to two with Trans and none with EQ.
I am good with Chase and have some investment as well as two cards but nothing too impressive so I am surprised when I hit the prequalify that it was lightening fast with qualified. I sat frozen for what seemed like ten minutes before moving on with the application. It just made no sense as I use my Chase cards so frugally. Up popped approved for 30000.00. Ok. I'll take that. Yes, at first i thought it said 3000. I hate to lose Hps on small accounts. Most of my accounts are at 30000.00, so maybe that is where they got the number. I have never gotten a CLI from Chase, ever in fifteen years. Well, maybe, but so small as to not remember.
Anyway thanks guys for getting my attention and keeping my credit life more relevant than it would be.
@Puppetmaster wrote:Thank you for posting the link. I followed it yesterday while logged into my Amazon account, and contrary to what many others have said here and elsewhere, the pre-qualification worked for me, I was pre-qualified, and then successfully accepted the offer with a $4,000 CL. Also noteworthy, this bypassed Chase's 5/24 filter. This is the second Chase card I have obtained without meeting the 5/24 rule, the first being a Freedom Unlimited card with a $13,500 CL a little under 2 years ago.

it should be this link: https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Rewards-Visa-Signature-Card/dp/B007URFTYI
you have to be signed in on your amazon account I think.
going to bump this thread instead of creating my own as I am curious, I got to this page
"Congratulations! You’re pre-qualified for the AmazonPrime Rewards Visa Signature Card!"
And the button "Continue to Application" and wondering if I click this button will it hard pull me? Or will it show me the credit limit offer first like the Apple card? I do NOT want a hardpull unless I see the offer first so if anyone knows please share

@Times , in my experience (and others I've read) the Amazon preapproval was solid. My app wasn't instant so I don't know if they show the starting credit line. When I reached the submit screen it asked which card design I wanted and showed me the APR. I clicked submit (this is when you should get the HP Alert), I received the notify in 30 day splash page. Received a call the following morning to verify I was the one who applied and was told my application was approved.
As always, YEMV. Good luck!
