Chase CLI procedure

I talked to a Chase supervisor today about a CLI and here is what I was told.

If Chase is not your highest CLI, then it is fairly common when applying for a CLI do do a hard pull and give a CL midway between the Chase CL and your highest CL.  This is mostly computerized.  If you then call for a recon and higher rate they will do a second hard pull and look over it manually.

So my plan has changed.  I was going to ask Chase for a CLI when the card was 14 months old (March) - I  don't want any more CCs, I want higher limits.  Now I will wait for my newest and highest limit card (Juniper, obtained in April when I had used this place to drive my scores up a 100 points, and chosed because they pull TU, my best score) to become over a year old, in the hope they will give me a CLI on my anniversary (and maybe Chase might do the same  Smiley Happy).  Then I will appy for a CLI on Juniper (TU will only have one inq at the time and is my highest score).  When that is all on my CRs, I will apply for a huge Chase CLI and transfer to a new better card (EQ will have no inqs at the time), and if not satisfied, call for a recon and second hard pull.

That will put me with an Inq status of: EX=0, TU=2, EQ=2.

Please note - I am planning on avouding the Sleigh center, and only have 3 CCs (plus a gas card and store card that are 10 years old).

Yes Midnight, your plan sounds like a sound one.  Don't forget to negotiate those APRs too.Smiley Very Happy Junny can be stingy for CLIs so don't be disappointed if they dont come through.  Maybe it was me since I was only using it for utilization since the interest rate was ridiculous compared to my other cards.

Stay away from the App-o-rama addiction. I have seen prime cardholders suddenly undergo a spate of CLDs for the same addiction.  Keep to your plan and you can avoid HVT treatments.  Of course, if needed Specfile will be happy to administer them.

The APRs don't bother me much - at this point I hope to be able to live within my meams and more or less PIF every month.  Smiley Very Happy

And if real problems strike, there is always my friendly Credit Union, with whom I am in very good standing.  Smiley Happy

I am always the type to hope for the best and plan for the worst. lol!!!

Having been in fnancial trouble before due to medical billsand loss of major income. I negotiate to the nth degree on everything. My lowest fixed-rate rate card now stand at 0 balance in case of emergency. Since BTs and cash advance have no additional fees and are the same as purchases I consider it my ace in the hole.  If all else fails, I figure I can BT all my balances to my 9.25 and 10.9 card which is why the balances on those two are alwayd kept t their lowest.  the only two that are actively used are a 0% CB and a 13% CB Pay the13% in full each month but figured I'd take full advantage of the 0.

Re: Chase CLI procedure

Just called Chase and had them lower my APR by about 5%, down to 14%.

It's fascinating that the fact that it's doable is not common knowledge. I mean, over the period of over a decade of having this card, I could've probably gotten my APR lowered several times, but I didn't know. **bleep**, and I probably would've gotten it lowered every time too, because I'm always in good standing with them. But I was under the impression that a card is a card with whatever it comes, so deal with it. Absolutely amazing, the knowledge I'm gaining from this website. When I called, the APR specialist basically reviewed my record and looked up what she called "the lowest APR she had available for me at the moment." Now, my question is, how long should I wait until I pull this again, I've already wasted 12 years.

If we could only open savings accounts and over the years ask for a higher % interest and get it. :-)

Re: Chase CLI procedure

Ficus, you can call for a review of your terms anytime though I reccommend once a year.  It gives them time to see that you are still a cust that they want to keep.  Again, to my signature line.......

Re: Chase CLI procedure

This, by the way, was a variable APR that I got too. I figure they will not lower APR every time by 5% for sure, and the decrements will be smaller and smaller, and clearly, once you get to a very low APR, they will not lower it any further. So, what's the lowest APR can one achieve with CCCs? I would hope that it'd be possible to eventually lower one's APR to a point where it's quite comparable to (but never as good as) low-interest loans. Good for BTs or financing things in your life, without the need to apply for more credit.

Re: Chase CLI procedure

Wait a sec. Brammy, am I reading this right? "0% CB"? This is a CC we're talking about, right? What's in it for the CCC then? Can you elaborate?

Oh, OK... So, then what's the lowest non-intro APR can one achieve under normal circumstances? I think I've seen some people cite 7-something.
