Chase 'Change Statement Date' opition

What are the benefits of changing the statement due date and how long does it take to go into effect? This option just appeared under my account options online.

I dunno how quickly it takes place, this varies from lender to lender so ask them.  Many credit card companies offer this option; usually changing the due date will have zero impact on your interest rate, credit limits, or any other terms and conditions of the account. This is merely a convenience for you should you have a reason to prefer a particular billing date. If you get paid once a month then you might want to make the due dates on your cards fall a week or two after payday. You might prefer having all your accounts due around the same time each month so you can pay all your bills at once. Or you might prefer spreading your due dates around in the month if you prefer that for some reason. It's entirely up to you.

Re: Chase 'Change Statement Date' opition

I changed my payment date with Chase last fall.  My payment date kept hopping back and forth before and after the secont paycheck of the month.  I pushed it out to the 25th and it was effective for the next statement.  The first statement for October was a little freaky...the minimum payment was higher and interest accrued was higher to compensate for the extra days between statements.  I suppose if you move it earlier, you will see a reduction.  The statement that came for November looked normal.  There was no inquiry made and no change to my FICO during those months.

Re: Chase 'Change Statement Date' opition

I tried to change my statement date on the 26th of February. My statement originally was supposed to close on March 2. I had a 0 balance. They tell me the new closing date is the 22nd but there is no evidence of that on the website yet. The first CSR I spoke to barely spoke intelligible English. Since when did Chase outsource?

I changed my statement  date on all my credit cards to a day after my payment is due, that way the cc company reports to all cb a day after my payment is made.crivas21

Doesn't work that way. Your payment is due give or take 25 days after the statement cuts. Some cards are less.
