I had two cards and a bank account with them, and had never been late. They closed my Amazon Visa and downgraded the other line quite a bit. Since then I try not to use my other card with them (slate), and with my new AMEX BCE coming in the mail soon, I won't use the slate at all.
Similiar experience.
At the height of the economic meltdown Chase closed down both my cards with no warning. I had bank acccts with them for years, and my cards had 100% good history but my UTL was around 50% at the time.
Whatever. I believe in voting with my wallet. Chase won't see my business again. After that I moved my accts from Chase to WaMu, when Chase bought out WaMu I packed up and moved again. They are black listed in my book...!

Absolutely! If they don't fix this, then I'll be taking all of my business elsewhere.. I've been very happy with Amex so far The only thing I've got left with Chase is Federal Consolidated Student Loans and this credit card...
I just submitted a BT request through NFCU, I'll transfer the remaining balance on the card just so that I don't have to deal with them again if they don't reopen the account. These are the April Charges which will be paid in May.
Wow sorry to hear about your difficulties with Chase webhopper. As someone who just opened my first Chase account 2 months ago this thread definitely got my attention.
So the reason your account was closed was a payment that didn't go through? Was that the only reason?
I am sitting on 30% util on both my Chase and discover cards right now, and since both are a few months old, opened in january and february, I have been stressing a little about AA on my new accounts due to high util. Although I would hope most lenders wouldnt freak out over 30% util. I did change my due date from the first of the month to the 16th of the month, just because I like my statement to cut at about the 3rd week of the month, then PIF on the last day of the month. Hope changing a due date doesn't freak them out either.
I hope things work out for you and you have some great cards if Chase doesn't want your business over a typo.

I hope things work out too! I paid the auto loan off from the same checking account, without making a typo Too bad they don't have a centralized place for me to put all of my external accounts where I can just go in there and select the pay from account which would be universal across auto /CC /Student Loans... If they had this then the typo wouldn't have happened, since I had just entered all of the bank account info correctly the day before

Wow. I've always held onto my BOFA account and touted that it's web interface is second to none, but this is so eggregiously lackluster that I suppose Chase isn't a reasonable successor for any local banking things I actually need. I'll put up with some annoyance for extra convenience factor, especially when it comes to this sort of thing where even simple mistakes can be completely aggravating.

For mobile interface, I recomment State Farm Bank... They have a "Pocket Agent" which lets you deposit and pay bills from your mobile phone.... I do everything with State Farm electronically, and their Customer Support is available 24/7, With the pocket agent, you can check your policies, investment accounts, checking, savings... etc with a few swipes of your fingers
I WAS using Chase as my local bank, but since I moved its not so local anymore. The closest branch is 20 miles from my house. I'm getting married in May, and my fiance loves the personal interaction he gets with his current bank, so I've been added to that account, and I added him to my State Farm accounts, so I use State Farm to cash flow my incoming payroll checks, and I use the local bank to cash flow my incoming rental income and child support. Also, state farm bank charges no monthly fees... and if you use the debit card at an atm, they will refund all atm fees once per month. I wanted the Good Neighbor Visa and apped for it in 2010, however my scores were not good enough to qualify at that time, and I didn't want to feel rejection again
For this reason, I always try to avoid "pulling" funds whenever possible.
With every new account, I always "push" a test payment ($10) to ensure I have it set up correctly. With larger bills, I make sure it's signed up for ebills to further avoid any account number clerical errors.
The only time I will ever have a payment pulled is in an emergency where I'm unable to push one through, just to avoid these kinds of mishaps.

I love push payments, but the me being joint on the bank account is a new thing, and I don't have all the merchants set up yet. Also, for the first time payment to new merchants, it takes 5 days :/ cause they actually send a paper check! I agree that push payments are better. I've got all of my CC accounts set up for auto-pulls of at least the minimum payment on the due date, this keeps me from missing a due date if I'm traveling or busy that month. Apparently when I typed in the account info for setting up the first payment and the auto pay, it was typed wrong. I need to set up merchants for push payments through my State Farm account, but I just haven't taken the time yet. I will be doing that tonight!!!
Update! My account has been restored, the customer service rep asked my income when I called at 9 am this morning... thanks everyone for the suggestions and support.... Love this forum!
Lessons Learned:
1. Always push payments first to make sure they go through.
2. Double Check your account info you enter when paying a bill, especially if this is the first time you're using the account to pay that bill.
3. If a payment doesn't show up in your checking account, double check to see that it was made properly!! If I hadn't done this I would have had to pay late payment fees.
4. Always pay your bills on time and pay more than the minimum due... I think if i had made only the minimum, instead of the entire statement balance I would have had less of a positive standing in their eyes.
Excellent news!! Congratulations! I'm so glad they opened it back up for you!
