Hey guys so I applied for both the CSP and Marriott Rewards Premier. I Applied for the CSP over the phone and was approved for $5000 instantly. I now see the CSP on my chase account and received the welcome email saying it is on its way. I called card services to ask and have it rushed before! I then applied for the Marriott card later that night online. I was approved again instantly for that card and received a email confirming that recent application right after I applied.
I called the next day and asked about the application. I did the automated line and typed in my SSN. The auto voice said that both applications are being reviewed. I then pressed zero and spoke with a live rep. The rep. told me the CSP is on its way, the Marriott is being reviewed.
So why did I get a instant approval for the Marriott card? Also I applied for the CSP on 10/8/14 asked the same day to have it rushed. Got the welcome CSP email today (10/10/14) sayings it is on its way. How long does rush mail actually take? I was actually hope's I would get it today!
Thanks for the help guys!!
Sometimes if you app for 2 cards on the same day they kick the second one into a verfication process to prevent fraud. I would call the backdoor # (Chase: 888-245-0625 (Credit Analyst - Recons) ) and just ask them if there is any other information they need to process your application.
Best of luck!
Yeah I think I might just do that. I have been calling this number: 800-955-9296.
Either that number, or another one of the backdoor numbers in the backdoor number thread should yield some better results.
Hope this helps
As a general rule I wait 6 mo + per Chase App, and if you dont have a PR this will mostly avoid "Pending " status. I did alot of research on this forum and others (flyer talk CB ect) about chase apps and how to get and build with them for success.
My husband follows the same rule, no less than 6 mo in between apps(because we do not assume we would fall into the auto approved app status that are the exception to the rule.)
My apps always pend due to BK 7 that is on my profile, but have been approved on manual when I call in post app "pending status". DH auto every time following the 6 mo formula. He has had 3 Approvals this way. Starting with Freedom(which was a pre-approved mailer) 6 mo on Freedom and hit an app for Amtrak Guest Rewards Approved, and he rolled Freedom into AGR then closed it. Post AGR he got a pre-approval for Slate, auto approved and later he rolled it into his AGR account and closed it out.
AGR is now the catch all card due to points for travel.
Me,
I was denied a Slate card in April of 2013, I had 8 YO BK7 and no Prime cards on my profile, even though I had some store cards a cap one and some other sub prime cards Chase would not do it no matter what. They wanted respected prime cards that are in their competitor category in my profile.
I hashed out a huge amount of building 2013-2014 and took alot of hard hits, even so I was approved for CSP in January this year. BK7 @ 9YO at that point. In August 2014 apped for Marriott Premier it went "Pending" and was approved on Calling in. 5K both lines. I will be rolling them into one line down the road keeping CSP.
Since we are just moving limits around, we did not collect the sign on bonus except for AGR (because it will remain in our profile for alot of years). We did this intentionally so as to not harden the relationship with Chase. Essentially we dont want the "Churner" Tag on our profile.
It is quite likely they may send you notice saying something like " Due to lack of experience with chase we are declining" say your second app.
Not a total loss, and if not great, you are part of the exception to the rule.
Good luck!

This is good advice. It's not necessary, but spacing apps 6 months apart seems to yield much better results with Chase (and a lot of lender for that matter).
The MArriott card if you got an email you were approved you are. They just need to set up a reward number with Marriott rewards which takes about 2-5 days

This is true, but it did seem like OP got the 7-10 day message as opposed to the instant approval email/screen followed by the awkward 2-3 day pending status they give.
Edit: I can't read.

Ah. If that is the case for your marriot card then you are approved. It takes them some time to either connect your account to your marriot rewards account if you entered a number, or to create a new marriot rewards account if you didn't give them an account number. You're good.
