What I ended up doing was installing the Chase app and setting up alerts there (it will let you set an alert for transactions over $1 which will trigger on all purchases). One of the delivery methods is push notifications so it won't flood your text messages or inbox.

Please don't let threads about account closings scare you. Many people have opened 3 Chase accounts quickly and have no problems. As long as you aren't doing anything stupid with their accounts or others you won't have any problems. Go focus on meeting the spend requirements and enjoy your rewards.
