I've seen multiple reports that Chase has discontinued the cell phone insurance on the Freedom Flex without telling it's customers. This benefit is still listed on the Chase website and in the app under benefits. It will be interesting to see what comes of it now, since they are advertising a benefit they aren't providing.
I'm aware this has been discussed in a couple different threads so far, but I thought it was significant enough news to warrant it's own thread.
It seems like when one lender starts to nerf a certain thing "Like cell phone protection"
Other lenders are not far behind following the trend.
I always ask this. Has anyone actually ever benefited from a credit card cell phone protection plan?
I sure have not.

I have not, I'm also very not hard on my phone and don't make it a habit to purchase particulary fragile phones. Now that my kid has a phone on my plan I'm a little more concerned. I'm more upset that they didn't bother telling anyone until after the protection was gone. I would have used a different card to get more points if they would have told me it was going to be discontinued. I'm foreseeing some kind of settlement or class action lawsuit for false advertising since they are still listing the feature for new applicants and current cardholders.
But do we know that it has really gone
Where are these multiple reports?
From looking into it and my understanding it it is not Chase removing the cellphone protection plan from their Freedom Flex cards but more that Mastercard has removed this perk from their World Elite benefits and Chase has not updated any of this information on their website and/or benefits guide. Apparently other Mastercard cardholders had an advance warning this was happening late last year to take place earlier this month but Chase either dropped the ball or there's some miscommuncation going on right now
Looks like Chase is about to have a big problem on their hands. Employees AND their own website is misleading.

I just this moment went to the above link and entered my Chase Freedom Flex card number.
It says my cell phone insurance coverage is intact.
