I always use my Freedom points for Amazon purchases. I have the Chase SW Premier card, so I don't see myself getting the CSP in the future. I don't like annual fees, so having one card with one is plenty. I've considered at some point in the future to see if I can PC over to CSP, but I'm very happy with my Chase cards as they are. I have a great relationship with Chase that has been flexible and generous with CLIs and approvals for auto/mortgage, so that's the only reason I'd considering getting the CSP over the SW card.

I think if it were me, I would want to save the points so I could transfer them to CSP if I ever got one.
I saved, and picked up a CSP 2.5 years later.

if most people NOT redeem for statement credit or gift card, chase would stop the transfer between freedom and CSP.
They lose money by give out 5% on whatever category and I guess they loose even more by points transfer
If they stopped the ability to transfer, CSP would move down significantly on my list of cards to aim for. I suspect it would lower demand for the card for a lot of other people as well. I doubt they lose more money on points transfers than they do if they paid out 5% cash. Points transfers allow purchasing products and services at a discount from business partners, and the cost behind the scenes is most likely a lot less dollar for dollar than a straight cash pay out.
For example, in one of my businesses, If a customer has had a problem with us or our product and they're not satisfied, I'll offer them either a refund or a much higher priced product to try to make it right. If they choose the higher priced product, I lose less money(and often I remain profitable on the transaction) than if they choose the refund, because our cost of the higher priced products we offer is always much less than the retail price of our lower priced products. I would be stunned if it isn't the same kind of thing with redeeming points for cash vs products and services.

I just want Chase Sapphire so i know what it is liked to have a metal card for 1 year at least for free (annual fee waived for 1 year). I never had a metal credit card ![]()
I don't have a CSP and I have no plans to get one either. I originally wanted a Freedom because I bank with Chase and I was intrigued by the checking account holder bonus. And then they nerfed that like right after I got the card (inward groan). Now I'm sort of stuck with it but I do use it at times. The rest of the year's 5% categories don't do much for me so eventually I want a QS to just replace it. The climb to 2000 URs right now is tedious.
I pretty much cash out right away because I don't like to save for no reason (you never know what'll happen!).
