Ii apped for a Chase Marriott card a few weeks ago and got the 7-10 day message and assumed I was denied. I received a letter today from the Chase fraud department asking me to call and verify some information. I called and they wanted to verify my SSN and Chase checking account balance. I was put on hold and then was advised they will need more info from me and I will get another letter on how to proceed in 5-7 days. They said I might have to send in a copy of my DL or a utility bill. I verified that the letter was from Chase but it just sounds odd to me. Has anyone had this happen on this CC? My score aren't that fantastic since I am rebuilding- 680.s across the board but I bank with Chase and have 2000.00 in checking and 6000.00 in savings. I also have a Chase Freedom for 1200.00 and Slate for 1200.00 plus a few other bank cards not with Chase. My utilization is at 5% and I pay in full on all cards each month but one. I make 80000 per year and run all my expenses through my Chase cards. Does this sound like I will be approved?. I am glad I wasn't denied outright and I'm hoping that the need to verify info is a good thing and not a big let down.
UPDATE. I called Chase back today asking what they needed me to fax in rather than wait for the letter. They wanted a copy of my DL which I faxed right away. How long shoul I wait to call back?. The rep said 14 days but I'm no sure that is accurate.
No, not really. I had to do this once before. Chase does take a bit sometimes. I would keep in touch and send them what they need. Keeping fingers crossed for you!
Sounds like an approval to me and your income is healthly and your scores are fine for the card.. I am assuming an 8k+ limit or so.

7-10 just means that an instant approval is not possible and that further manual review is required. It may lead to denials in many cases but if it was a flat out denial you'd receive a denial instead of 7-10.

Many have. It doesn't happen to everyone but it's not unusual. Creditors can and do verify identitiy. They can and do verify income.

We have no idea other than the verification indicates that you haven't been denied yet. Your deposit accounts are not relevant.

Definitely approved. The exact same thing happened with me when I applied for the Marriott card. I faxed a copy of my DL, called back in a week or so. Unfortunately the first fax of my DL I didn't convert to B&W first and they said they couldn't read anything on my license. I scanned my DL again, converted it to B&W, and faxed it off again. Waited another week called, spoke with someone from verification who double checked all my info, put me on hold for what seemed liked an eternity and then told me I was approved for $5000.
My scores were WAY lower than yours, I'm thinking in the 620 range. I was approved for a Freedom for $3000 a month or two earlier. If I had to guess your limit should be pretty decent with scores in the 680s.
Congrats in advance (that's what everyone told me when I posted my thread, so I figure it's appropriate) ![]()
Oz
I get offers in the mail all the time......"we're offering select marriot members anexciting opportunity, blah blah......" and I never apply because I only have a 640 and wouldn't think Chase would ever even consider me.
That's great that you got in with a 620....wow!

Yes. This has happened many times. you could have answered something wrong. as long as you follow thru and don't take too much time. you are approved more than likely. your scores are good enough.
