Chase PC and CLI - do them at the same time or separately?

Hey everyone,

I have a Chase Slate with a 1100 CL and I figure I should PC to a Freedom since I've had it for 11 months and I'm eligible for a PC in January. I'd also like a CLI and I was wondering if you think I should get the PC and CLI at different times or the same time? Not sure if I'm more likely to get a higher CL with the Slate or Freedom, or if they want you to wait X months after a PC to request a CLI?

I've never gotten a CLI with the Slate for the time I've had it, if that matters? I also have had a Cap1 Platnium with a 500CL for the past 3 years. No late payments on either, always PIF.

Thanks!

Hi!

You can consult with them once your Slate card has reached a minimum of 12 months of history to be considered for a PC to Freedom (not all Slate accounts qualify though).  Since a variety of Chase credit products have different PC criteria, first determine whether you qualify for it before requesting the CLI.

Additionally, auto CLIs are seldomly granted for newer accounts (<12 mos history) unless an individual submits for a reconsideration request.  Thus, as far as a higher limit, Chase will most likely do a Hard Pull.  Of course this would be all relative on your overall PC results and if you desire the CLI.  The latter would also depend on whether your credit file is thin/limited to warrant such risk.  However, if you have a well-established credit file with a decent score and no negative history (or relatively clean) then it may be feasible.  Of course, the only way to know for sure is when you decide to submit for the CLI request.
