Chase denied me for their Southwest Airlines Visa. Tried recon and EO to no avail. Recon rep even recommended me for approval, but I'm guessing underwriting nixed it. (I had three Chase cards that went into collections in 2006-2007. Collections are now paid.) EO also denied GW deletion of those negative accounts which are scheduled to age out within the next 6 to 12 months. I will say that the Chase recon and EO reps were very nice and professional. I think they would have approved me if it were up to them, and I can't really blame Chase for not approving me given my history with them.
On the same day I got the bad news from Chase EO, I received an invitation in the mail to apply for Discover it. Because I was feeling down about the Chase denial, had read good reviews of Discover it on this forum, and figured that my odds of approval were better with a pre-screened offer, I decided to apply online. Got approved instantly online! (Did get sent to a page first asking me more questions about employment.) Wasn't told the credit limit at the time of approval. I assumed $1k to $2.5k and dared to hope for $5k. (My highest previous CL was $1,500 with Cap One.)
Once I was finally able to log in to my account Sunday night it said I had a $15k credit limit ... I thought it was a mistake! Got the card today, and it's no mistake ... super stoked to have my first prime card in years!
Interestingly they pulled EX which is my lowest FICO at 667 (others are 679 & 685). After promotional 14 month 0% APR my rate will be a variable 15.99% which is just below the middle of their advertised 10.99% to 22.99% APR depending on creditworthiness range. Excited to have the card and use it responsibly!

Sorry to hear about Chase. Looks like you're still on the blacklist, and I am surprised even EO couldn't get you off the blacklist.
Give it a couple more years and hopefully you will get off the blacklist then.
Grats on the Discover approval too! ![]()
Thank you! Yeah, I think I will have to wait at least one year when all the Chase baddies fall off of my credit report. Wondering if their blacklist lasts longer than the 7 year credit report time limit ... anyone know?
Sorry to hear about Chase, but that is one heck of a Discover credit line! I think i've seen very few start off with a 15k line whatever their profile. Congrats!
Congrats!

That really sucks about Chase but congrats on Discover. That is a heck of a CL and hopefully its only the beginning of other lenders opening up their doors to you!
