Chase Slate PC

I have the Freedom, Slate, and CSP. The Slate has an apr of 17.99, while the Freedom is 22.99. I would like to PC the Slate to Freedom, and close out my existing Freedom to take advantage of the lower APR. My question is how is Chase with PCs? Is there a time limit you must have the card (was just approved for the Slate)?

Re: Chase Slate PC

The account must be a year old, and even then it can be difficult... There are other threads on here, including one of my own, indicating that regular CSRs would deem the account ineligible, while the EO would grant the PC.  Again, you'll have to wait 12 months before a PC can be considered.  At that time, try a secure message once or twice, and if that doesn't pan out email the EO.  They'll call within a week and address your PC.  Good luck!

Re: Chase Slate PC

Also, getting a PC doesn't mean the APR won't change. They could very well increase or decrease the APR.

Re: Chase Slate PC

I dont understand why you would be closing your Freedom card because of the APR...and for the Slate card which offers no rewards?? I understand your trying to PC the card but I would definitely rethink this strategy. APR is based on the Prime and like another poster said, can be increased or decreased at the companys discretion.

Chase doesnt typically do product changes. And if they do, the account must be a year old. You also cant still have your other Freedom account open if trying to PC to same product because it violates Chases card policy. Only one of the same product.

I know that, and that is why I would PC the Slate to the Freedom after closing the existing Freedom. My only question was the time frame needed to enact a PC with Chase.

I'll speak with the EO tomorrow, and most likely close out the Slate after moving the CL to my CSP and existing Freedom.

Re: Chase Slate PC

Why not just do a credit limit transfer from one chase card to the other in this case? Inquire on moving your freedom card credit limit to one of the other cards.

Re: Chase Slate PC

APRs shouldn't really guide your decision to close your current accounts. If you are carrying a balance, you shouldn't do it on the Freedom unless it's a promotional APR. If it doesn't make money, it certainly doesn't make much sense. (Or Cents!)

My question is, if you have no use for a Slate, why oh why would you app for it?

Re: Chase Slate PC

The OPs endgame was to get a lower APR which the OPs slate card offers vs their Freedom which has a slightly high APR. As said before, the APR can fluctuate with Prime.

Re: Chase Slate PC

Energy would be better used to actually request a APR reduction rather than apping for a new card with a potentially lower APR in the event that you actually can PC this card. (Doesn't make any sense why one would actually choose the SLATE card to do this. Especially since there are people who have had this card for years have to go to EO to PC. They deserve the PC.) Realistically.. how much damage has been done to one's profile for a lower APR? +1 INQ, +1 new TL Lower AAoA and actually explaining this to a CSR? :-S

I think uses like these with the EO are simply not what the EO is for.

Re: Chase Slate PC

Agreed.

I personally wouldnt want to take the AAoA hit. And I think Chase, as with other banks, have a policy that doesn't allow the same card to be opened for a minimum of one year after closing said card. The OP would probably luck out going this route anyway if endgame was to get back said card immediately.
