I have the card but haven't received a letter. Sounds like I will get some product change if the program is discontinued.
The Starbucks Duetto gave back 1% plus substantial bonuses on the Startbucks part of the card. The freedom pays back 1% in CASH. I don't see the disadvantage.
My other Chase card, which was run $8,000 over-limit by my ex as she exited, was recently changed to a Slate. The terms on that were not very attractive such as high interest and Chase must have viewed me as a marginal customer with that card. I'm thinking the Slate is their lower tier product. The Chase site explains little.
The interest rates quoted on all their cards are way high. I can't imagine paying any of them. I'm using the good one for an 18 month BT at 2.99% and the bad one is being used for an 18 month 4.99% BT.
IMO, slate is not better than Freedom. Freedom give you 3% in several categories, whereas Slate gives you 1% on everything. Slate is cute, but their rewards are ugly. Freedom is beautiful.
Ole My3cents.

How do you compare chase freedom and chase saphire? Which is better? Freedom or Saphire?
Now that Chase killed the Freedom rewards program, I don't think there's much of a difference between the two.
