Chase Strategy

I have 2 Chase cards, the Freedom and AARP.  The cards compliment each other very well, and together are quite formidable.  My problems are restrictive credit limits on both. (3k and 1.5k)  I move several thousand dollars a month through the accounts, so I'm constantly having to go in and make payments on each during the month to keep the uti down.  Annoying.

I'm iced right now as I near the final month on a mortgage, but soon as I get the keys I plan to get Chase on the phone and explain I need some luv.  I picked up the Freedom in Dec and the AARP in Feb.  Is that gonna be long enough for them to know if they like me?  I'm thinkin about asking for 10 on each and see what they say.  CS runs in the 720s, handicapped by many inq 6 months ago.

I'm due to close in late May, so gonna let the June stuff post and then make the call.  Any advice?

Re: Chase Strategy

I can't say for sure as we don't have enough information about your credit profile. What I have read about chase is that YMMV when it comes to CLI with chase. They sometimes do AutoCLI. But if you want to request a CLI most people suggest applying for a new card and then combining limits.

For me my first Chase card was a United card with a decent limit when my scores was only about 640. They pull for me from EQ which is my lowest score by quite a bit. About 4 months later I applied for a CSP and got a 12k limit. At the time it was my highest limit. They pulled EQ again and my score was only about 650. If you just qualified for a home then I think you should be fine. Apply for a new card and call chase to recon your limit. Talk to them at that time. That seems to be when they are most likely willing to hand out limits.

EQ: 678

Why would you put several thousand dollars through the cards when they have limits on the rewards? Why not just get a Citi Doube Cash?

+1  two to four months will not get it. minimum 6 months of holding cards and also. im certain. they don't let you ask for what you want. they give it to you. if you need high limits in short period of time. Amex is only way to go. as now you can ask for credit limit increase the moment you activate your card. at least 3 times your starting limit. unless that starting limit is too high already. good luck.

Re: Chase Strategy

I have a Disney Visa and then applied for the Freedom soon after before my scores plummetted due to inquiries. I got 4000 on the Disney Visa, my CL on the Freedom was only 2000. I took the CL  from Disney and transferred it to my Freedom card. They told me that at anytime I can put the CL back on the Disney card. I might not do that. Just a thought. I think the Disney Visa is easy to get approved for after reading a little about it.

Is this true about AMX? I got approved the other day. I want a higher limit so I can just use one card.

Yes. they got rid of the 61 day waiting to get 3 times cli. you can log onto your account anytime now and just make sure you do not ask for more than 3 times your current limit. if they can't they will either counter with different offer . or deny. but yes to your question. completely true.

You can ask Chase how much of an increase you want.
