Chase product decision

I think I might try for the CSP (I'm getting lofty).  Here's Why:

- I do travel at least once a year (which is likely to increase as grandma is turning 90) and it isn't cheap, and I should probably travel more since I'm single, and not even in my 30s yet.  Plus there is always the possibility of reimbursed business travel.
- I "dine" frequently, and can get 2x points year round.
- I can redeem points for Travel (I realize this is the best value), or Gift Cards (including Amazon gift cards, which makes it almost cash since you can buy anything on Amazon), or statement credit
- Sweet sign up bonus which I should be able to eek out.
- No need to sign up for categories or any of that.
- 7% annual points dividend

- It's a fancy card and I do take clients to reimbursed lunch sometimes (Of course the BCP probably isn't lacking impressiveness)

95AF sucks I know, but it is waived for the first year.  Will chase let me PC to normal Sapphire should I turn out not to take full advantage before first AF hits?

Now, Chase says I'm pre-qualified for it, but if I apply and they deny me, can I recon for their other cards (assuming recon for CSP fails), i.e. Freedom or normal Sapphire without another HP?

Thanks for looking!

You can PC to Sapphire at a year if you aren't using it enough to justify the AF

You will need to app for each product you want. If you were declined for the CSP they can't consider you for a Freedom without another app.

Having said that, I have found their pre-approval site to be pretty much on the money. No guarantees, but chances are pretty good. And like you said, you can always recon

Re: Chase product decision

I think it's easier to get approve if you already qualify for it. When i called in, i was told that i qualify for the Sapphire card and could PC, but it decided to apply for the CSP instead and i got approved easily. Good luck.

Unless you have done some serious changes to your credit, Chase pre-approval is almost guaranteed to be approved. It's a great card.

Re: Chase product decision

You will be fine. I also did the pre-approval process first, and the website said I was qualified for the CSP, CS, and Slate. I applied and instant approval. My FICO is similar to yours too. So, I wouldn't sweat about it! Good luck!

Re: Chase product decision

If you do get it you might as well go for the Freedom at the same time becuse the 5% categories on it can really help you rack up UR points - which would help offset the AF.

Thanks for your responses.  I wouldn't mind doing this but I am already planning on Amex BCP (I'm hoping I can also get a charge card with the same pull - I've read that this has happened to people), Discover IT, CSP, and Sallie Mae.  We'll see what happens - I wouldn't mind having two Chase cards - especially with the UR piling up... but I'm weary if it's going to be two pulls to get CSP & Freedom at same time...plus I'm already going to be adding 4 TLs to only 2 existing TLs.  Granted my AAoA is nearly 8 years at the moment and I will app at the same time for all of them so it shouldn't be impacted until the TLs actually hit my CR.  We'll see.

Naturally, I will be posting a thread in the Approvals section with the results of my app spree after ~ 4 years gardening.  I'm dreaming of 5-digit initial CLs and Signature/WEMC's (does CSP come in WEMC or Signature...I'm assuming its a MC or Visa?)...but of course, they call them dreams for a reason  Smiley Very Happy.   That shovel is getting heavy.

I would swap the Discover it and Freedom cards.. Both have the same %5 categories but the freedom can help build points with the CSP., Then switch over to chase checking and you add %10 and %7 year in point bonuses.. Just my $.02

Too many to list..

Hmmm...I don't think I'm eligible to open a Chase checking account.  I went to their site to look into checking and they asked me for my zip, then it said "No".  The closest branch is 100mi away Smiley Sad

Re: Chase product decision

If I were you I'd app for both It & Freedom as it looks like your AAoA can support it. But if you don't you can always do one or the other later.
