I have $35,000 in available credit but no card with Chase. Should I apply or continue to let me accounts age? According to credit karma my AAoAs is 3.1 years. I need to replace the Cap 1 and State Farm accounts that I closed totaling $3750.
I guess you have to answer that question yourself. Why do you need a Chase Card, If you already have $35K in available credit? Personally, I know how tempting it is, but you gave no good reason(s) to apply for new credit, other than you trying to close out two cards.

I have 4 Chase cards (3 Freedom, 1 Southwest Airlines) and I use them a lot. 2 of my Freedom cards have the extra 10+10 bonus (I have checking & savings with Chase) and they get the most business. The points add up fast and can be redeemed for all kinds of stuff. The only downside about Chase is that they are not easy in the CLI dept. If you initiate a CLI request they will do a hard pull on your credit report. I haven't received an increase on any of my cards with them but that's ok. For the most part they are a good bank to deal with as long as you don't need more than what they'll give you on their own.

I'll be staying away from them.

The way things are turning and in the last 1-2 year so many banks/CUs have started pulling hard for CLIs, my feel is its not long before every CCC does a HP for a customer initiated CLI.
chasing rewards? unlimited 5% on all purchases for 6 mnths.: http://www.aarpcreditcard.com/Default
DI ... do you really need Chase card? I read that you want to stay away from Chase due to the hard pull on CLI. I think it is best to let your AAoA older for now and pay off those two ccs balances ... unless you really need it.
I really did not need to get another one, but I did get it because of the its benefit ... discount on HP product (I am looking for to get new PC) and No Foreign Transaction Fees (this is great when I visit my family) ... I got Addison Ave FCU Platinum VISA with 10k CL in end of Oct 10'. That's it! No more ccs for me for long ~ long time!

I have no credit card balances to pay off. The Cap 1 and State card that I closeed never carried a balance.
